If you were in the middle of nowhere - and an Alien space craft swooped down before you, and captured you.....

And, "they, the aliens" offered you a choice -

Come with them, forever, imortatlity and promise to you, yet unknown, but vast amounts of knowledge - but you'd never see your loved ones again and they'd never know what happened to you, or.....

You could stay, but they'd zap your memory and you'd not remember a thing about them or their offer....

What would you choose?

I would stay. What is immortality and vast amounts of knowledge without the ones you love? No reason to debate the question in my mind. I would rather grow old and see my children grow and face death with the ones I hold the closest in my heart and arms.

Holy @#$@#$

Boy is it early for this Sparky!!

BTW... YOU didn't answer it for yourself! *bonk*

I agree with sweet cherry!

Without my kids, I might be tempted, but I could never live forever and not know how things came out for them, to be there for them when they need the old man. No choice, really. I'd Stay

I would go in a heart beat......

The pioneering, galactic historical importance of such a decision, far outweighs the, comparatively so - rather mundane, everyday human eccentricities of life and love.

Again my innate human arrogance would not get in my way of making the correct decision. To each their own but - our existence here is pretty much only relevant to the individual - and it's your selfish right to your own decisions for your own reasons.

I simply tend to think beyond my own meager human existence.

Sorry Shebabe, sorry kids - but they already know this - I've told them, forewarned them -

If I ever disappear - they will know. They will be proud.

I have no kids and it is still an easy choice. I'd stay.

Maybe I could send post cards......

in the form of comets.

That's my dad - woosh!

Wow... just wow....
Um.. gee, I guess he has REALLY thought about this! hehe

I am not arguing with your decision Spark but I don't know if I agree that the people who chose to stay were being "selfish" by choosing to be with loved ones.
I think of it in quite the opposite way really... they would worry about their children, b/c they love them.

Love is so great it endures nearly all other things....

Like time, like death - or like disapearence without a trace.

My wife, my kids and my family - would all survive just fine. I would never be worried about them.

Yes, I would miss the human joys of the maturing of my children - who wouldn't? But.....

The importance of any human breaking away, breaking the bonds from this stupid hunk of rock - is so hugely important to the survival of all "what we reffer to as mankind," that it is a non-decision for me.

I'm there. I'm gone - woosh!

If possible I'd even breed - think of the importance of that - I'd in essence be creating a "new strain of living creature."

Wow! Too cool.

Come and get me you fucks - volunteers are hard to find.

Remember - living within the rules of ones own making - leaves no challenge other than to live within those rules.

Boring!!!

I like to make up my own rules - or find new ones to break.

LMAO

Well said man!!
Huzzah!! *lifts glass to Sparky's abduction in the near future* ;)

Sparky....... buddy....... you've told them this????And meant it?????

Whats on the menu at Bellevue today big fella?;)

Sparky, did you consider the possibility of not having your guitars?

This is something I've thought about before, and have even told my wife.

If I get a ticket to ride, I'm gone.

Show me something.

Yes I would give up everything here on Earth....

And take nothing with me - if that be their preference.

I'd pick up some axe on some other planet - learn it and enjoy it.

Of course......

Once I gained imortality - birthed a few hundred Sparky clones, a new uberbreed - and learned my new intergalactic musical instrument - and gained infinite insight into space travel, black holes and the like.....

I would return to Earth - to dominate the entire planet!

Hah! My original plan - now you know.

Of course all the women of the board here - would be in my harum.

Altruism is for the weak!!!!

I knew there was an ulterior motive..

"Kneel down puny earthlings Uber Spark has returned...."

Immortality? Hmmmm. I'd have to think about this.

Is there a finite amount of knowledge? If one is immortal, conceivably one could hit the ceiling of new thoughts, ideas, things. Anything after that would be repetitive and boring.

One could never view attachments (selfish as they might be) in the same way again.

Immortality and perfect detachment doesn't sound too good, really. I think I'd stay.

Uber Sparky.....

always has infinite creativity - always has always will...

He just can't spell and forgets shit all the time.
