The two versions aren't even close to the same. That isn't to say that Diamond's version isn't a tear in your beer song, because it is. Old fashioned country. UB40 is a rapped-up reggae happy whine song. Neil Diamond's version is okay now and again, but I can't listen to UB40s take more than once in a full eclipse of the sun decade.
