And yes, i know I underestimate the US, but it's so easy to do it! Of the 23-player squad, the US has 12 who play in Europe: 1 in a top European club, PSV; and the rest in clubs without any real expression in international competitions today (sorry, Leeds, Everton and Fulham fans, the operative word is today ;); I'm not apologising to Reading fans, though. ). You look at a team like the Ivory Coast, who no one even considers, and you have players from Chelsea, Arsenal (2), PSV, Olympiakos, Marseille, Auxerre, PSG, and a whole bunch of other top French clubs - in a total of 22 Europe-based players.

I think the US team strengths are conditioning and team play, we've never had many superstars.

But can anyone tell me why FIFA had the US ranked like 4th or 5th? I don't understand that at all. Our region is not that hard (Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobego etc), and we got spanked by Germany 4-1 just a month ago.

I don't think anyone even at FIFA can explain their ranking. lol.

Awww, sorry to disappoint, but we're going to win our group, just like you're going to win yours, so I'm afraid you won't have the honour of playing us just yet...

Fucking Krauts. Poland gets screwed by Germany - Again!

Dammit, I was hoping for once that Poland could go into Germany and score a win - in something. Ninety fucking minutes of scoreless play before giving up the game winner. Un-fucking-beleivable.

Well, at least it wasn't one of those cheap-ass penalty kicks they use just to get the game over and declare a winner. Or do they even do that in World Cup play? I'm a bit ignorant in the area of Association Football.

Now who the hell do I root for?

Go USA, I guess. Ho Hum.

I'm glad you said that, and not me, lol. :D

Yeah, after the group stages (during the knock-out rounds, in other words) if it's still a draw after ninety minutes, the game then goes into extra time - 30 mins (15 mins each way), then, if it's still a draw after extra time, the game then goes into a penalty shoot-out - 5 penalties each (if it's still a draw after that, it goes into sudden death penalties). I hope I explained that well enough, hehe.

Nah, support the best: ENGLAND!!! :D ;)

Pimms (with a rum base) and lemonade at the ready (sorry Lou, I am a Harlequins rugby supporter after all ).

I'm gonna be out of action for the next two or three hours, at least. There's many important things in this world, but nuffin' comes before footy! :p

My, life's a bitch...

Ta, ta!

Ah, that's right. I forgot. The foreplay is on.

England 2 - T&T 0 Final

Goals:
England
21. CROUCH Peter (83')
4. GERRARD Steven (91+')

Tatelou, it is your moment of joy. However, I must take you to task here. T&T are small islands, thus their players must be small. Then, England turns this whacking big striker loose on the little guys and it is not fair!

Bugger, bugger, bugger!
I was watching, then went to shower in the half time break and didn't come back.
Missed the freakin' best part.

Well done lads. But I have to say, the bit I did watch did not show England in a very good light. The Trinidadians were easily holding their own, and at times had the lads on the run. Time to pick up the performance.

Who do they have next? And when? (being lazy)

Next? We beat Sweden on Tuesday. ;)

We really picked it up in the second half, with the substitutions (he got it right for once), and just kept piling the pressure on. MUCH better stuff from our lads. :D

Gonna go re-stock on beer, then I'm gonna watch Sweden v Paraguay. Good luck to your lot, Liar. :)
