Well, looks like Portugal will have to wipe the floor with the Netherlands in the last 16 again, and then take out England in a penalty shoot-out in the quarters, again. :catroar:

Time to take on Italia.....

I am very apprehensive after the other day...

At least Sam's Army is singing with furvor...now, can the players play with the same passion? Can we get Landon Donavon free? Can We BUY a decent F*#%@& cross?

Today is pretty much the US's tournament on the line.

I think they have a shot, although not a great one. It was worth bettting a little on the USA, since it was somethign ridiculous like 6:1 odds. :nana:

well, they are being aggressive...and we have to if we want to win today...

So... What does it feel like to support the team that got their asses kicked by the team that got their asses kicked by Ghana?:D

This coming from a Portugal fan? Need we really bring up 3-0 scores? :D

I was screaming my ass off at 4 am in the Princess Pub with a bunch of other nutcases that day...

That was 3-2 and our guys were all either drunk or half asleep. :D

It ended 3-2....but being up 3-0 in the 36th minute was still a big thing for us...

Even if we get beat down in this Cup, Adu is coming....and we are no longer the joke we once were...

lol, that's exactly what I was thinking! :D And considering Italy kicked Ghana's ass, I don't hold out much hope at all for the good old US of A. They're right at the bottom of the Group E food chain. ;)

Sorry Bel and everyone else. :p

Well, that's not gonna help....

...and it won't help the game with the casual US fan that we seem to be playing the Italian diving team as well as their soccer team...

sorry, but that goal was set up by a dive...right after Pope got a yellow when the Italian player grabbed his jersey and pulled him down with him, then got up and immediately called for a card...

Being 3-0 up in the 36th minute just proves our guys had to have been comatose. :D

Who's Adu?

Who's Adu?

Freddy Adu....17 years old, plays for DC United...and is potentially the best U.S. player ever...

The own goal is lucky....but it is also a result of the U.S. staying aggressive.

Personally, I don't like the whole Red card thing...it seems like too much of a penalty to a whole team for one players transgression....

The red card IS part of football, and always has been, and football is a TEAM game, so if a player is stupid enough to let his team down like that, then, yep, the whole team loses out (and no doubt, they give him a piece of their minds afterwards).

The dynamics of football are so geared towards team play, it couldn't be any different.

Oh, I have another one:

The US has all in their favour for today's game. They play like a bunch of girls, and since Italy has players named Andrea, Simone and Daniele, this should be a piece of cake!

:D

I guess you missed my earlier provocation to England. :D:rose:

Haha, that was provocation was it? We'll get our own back for Euro 2004, mark my words. ;)

Will Rooney kick the grass and break his foot in the first 10 minutes again? :p

Yes, but even now, the players the US sends to soccer have always been the third or fourth level of athletes in the country, at best...

If you are a premier athlete in the US, why play soccer for 100K a year when you can play baseball for 5 Million?

Except when applied by Cristano Ronaldo :D

LOL! That's the second time in the past few minutes that someone has said exatly what I was thinking.

Didn't wanna wind up dear Lauren even more, though. ;) :D
