We now can project John S. McCain the winner of the 2008 Presidential Election.
President-Elect McCain will take the oath of office as the 44th President of the United States on January 20th, 2009 in Washington, D.C. Vice President-Elect Sarah Palin will also take her oath of office as the 46th Vice President of the United States and President of the United States Senate that same day.

Tickets for the Swearing In Ceremony, Inaugural Parade, and Inaugural Ball will be available the last week in December 2008 from GreatSeats.com and other ticketing services.

Please hold all wager receipts until the results are final. No refunds for lost or stolen wager receipts. Results will not become final until the Archivist of the Congress has transmitted copies of the Certificates of Ascertainment to Congress in late December 2008, after the Archivist and the Clerk of the Federal Register have met with the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House of Representatives. At that time, the Congress shall then meet in joint session to count the electoral votes. The President of the Senate shall be the presiding officer. If a Senator and a House member jointly submit an objection, each House shall then retire to its respective chamber to consider the objection. The President and Vice President must achieve a majority of electoral votes (270) to be elected. In the absence of a majority, the House selects the President, and the Senate selects the Vice President. In the event any State submits conflicting sets of electoral votes to Congress, the two Houses acting concurrently may accept or reject the votes. If they do not concur, the votes of the electors certified by the Governor of the State shall be counted in Congress.

It just gets better. Obama goes on Letterman and 'splains his lipsitck/pig quip. He's fucking cluless.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Yesterday was the best numbers you'll see from McCain in this election. It's all down hill from here. He's already started giving back his bounce.

Yah know, I expect this to be a squeaker lash, but Obama and his campaign are doing everything they can to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Right now, I'm betting they'll succeed. If they can't get the loose cannons under control, they are going to lose.

Neither he, nor Biden, are going to do that well in the debates. For differing reasons, but the results will be the same.

a lot of depends on the format of the debates. McCain wanted the ' town meeting style" which he knows Obama is lousy at. Put Obama behind a podium and he might shine. But Obama really needs to uh, stop saying, uh, all the uh, time.

One debate is townhall format. The rest are neo-TV-traditional. Obama will have a podium, but he won't have a teleprompter.

you best be looking at the electoral college predictions...haven't found one yet that is saying anything new. The "bump" appears to be coming from states McCain would have already won.

you guys are kinda blowing your wad early this year. kinda funny, really.

well, it's all they've got. They blew through the "muslim" thing, the "inexperienced" crap, and now all they've got is "he's a sexist!"

Even though if you take a look at voting records, it's clear that john mccain wears that shade of lipstick rather well.

Yeah, we're not devious enough to hide and conspire to bring something out 3 days before the election, we just put it out there when it comes up. It's been a long time since the Republicans came up with an October Surprise (and that's only if you count Nixon's announcement to stop the bombing in Viet Nam as an October Surprise (not)).

There is some truth to this but he is getting some battleground states that were leaning his way, a little more soldily in his corner. Now he can spend more time on the few states that will actually turn the election for him. Michigan might be a state he can steal, take Colorado, those are in play, even Penn. is in play. VA is less in play now then it was, Ohio is moving towards McCain as well. It will be hard for McCain not to win if he gets Florida, Texas AND Ohio.

There's a longer lead time with the states and updating figures.

I would think that holding on to a Bin Laden tape for months, then releasing it a few days before the 2004 election might count, but what do I know? I don't even watch Fox News.

I read that Bin Laden put the tape out in an effort to discredit Bush...too bad the opposite took place.

Wikipedia:

2004 Bush vs. Kerry
See also: United States presidential election, 2004

On October 27, the New York Times reported the disappearance of huge cache of explosives from a warehouse in al Qa'qaa (see Missing explosives in Iraq). The John Kerry campaign blamed the Bush administration for this supposed mismanagement; administration officials charged that the Times had gotten the story wrong, and that the explosives had been cleared from the storage facility before the looting was supposed to have taken place.

On October 29, the Arabic news agency Al Jazeera aired a video of Osama bin Laden (see 2004 Osama bin Laden video). In a speech that justifies and takes responsibility for the actions of September 11th, bin Laden calls out the Bush administration and the American position in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "Your security does not lie in the hands of Kerry, Bush, or al-Qaeda," Osama claimed; "Your security is in your own hands." [2] This is believed to have helped President Bush's campaign as it thrust the War on Terrorism back into the public eye. There is debate as to whether bin Laden was aware of the effect the video would have on the elections; the "Bush bounce" from the video did not surprise most outside observers of the 2004 election.

I know that many libs feel that Bush is the source of all evil, but I still don't think he controls Al Jazeera...though I'm sure one of the kooks will come into the thread and try to tell us that he did.

Your assertion being that the government can control bin Laden tapes, but no others.

Fucking idiot.

Too bad McCain wasn't there with him 'splaining his lipstick/pig comment from '07. Squeeeeal like a pig, baby. McCain got bitchslapped (not Palin) and why are we too stupid to pick this up? McCain certainly can't be too senile for it. Can he?

The bubble for McCain will burst at some point and if he doesnt dominate the debates (which should be about what matters) I suspect Obama will still win.
