I was once in a “dead bedroom” support group online and could not believe how many hot women were completely being neglected or shut down by their hubbies.

I think that some women are often raised to be a little more emotionally expressive and attuned than men. so occasionally in longer term relationships the men who feel inadequate in some area of life (financially, emotionally, or sexually) will shut down rather than try and “fail.” In turn, if we (women) are continually met with disinterest, shutdown, or inconsistency, we begin to slowly but surely emotionally close off. + no communication = dead bedroom. I know that’s not the case every time, there are of course, many different factors.

Completely agreed. In my case, there were a number of factors, including SSRIs, resentment and a breakdown of trust, and unresolved issues for both of us. We are now happily divorced and have both done the work allowing us to be in much healthier relationships.

This is the first time I’m hearing the term dead bedroom! Fascinating!

It’s either I was great in those past relationships, or they ended before I had a chance to kill the bedroom
