Winter Holiday Support Thread

I know it's a bad day to ask, everyone being busy and all... but I'm in need of someone to look over a story for suspension of disbelief, esp. the ending... anyone interested? PM me... :)

Absy, thank you for taking a bath with me...no, really...everyone here thanks you for it. ;)
lovely story. but you knew i felt that way when i first read it. ive RCV'd.

ive a lot of reading to do here. i think SJ is next.
yehaw!

Ratios

I have an expectation, after 100+ submissions, that I will get a ratio of votes per 1000 views and a few PCs.

My entry for the Winter Holiday contest has broken the mould.

I have a high number of PCs - Thanks to everyone who has been so complimentary - nearly as many as I have votes.

The ratio of votes to PCs and the ratio of votes to views seems oddly low.

Is anyone else experiencing a low vote/view ratio this time? I would expect it if I had written half-a-dozen Lit pages but for 800 odd words?

This being my first Lit contest and all, I have nothing to compare it to. But I wish that I could have gotten more PCs than I have. I only have 8 compared to the 20+ that I've noticed in other entries. Maybe it's because mine hasn't been out as long as the others. Who knows?

RVCs for today: Muse, R.R., Cheerful Deviant, Entitled, Lizzy, Colly, BT, DP, Selena, Cookie, Honey and Sophia Jane. Currently reading Daniellekitten's entry.

Have I missed anyone?

Ogg -I do believe Imp's had problems getting votes.

I think maybe people are just so very busy right now, that it' only dedicated competition authors who are really reading.

I will read when my epic is done. Damn,it's hard work but I MUST get it finished by tommorrow evening at the very latest. I can't afford to spend any more time writing it.

So here I sit, peanut butter and jam toasted sadwich in hand (brain food) and I'm typing like crazy.

I'm liking that it's Thanksgiving and it's quiet around here tonight!

three times the charm...

I have decided to write one more Holiday Contest entry, Searching For Christmas, which should be posted in a couple of days. I noticed in many entries about Christmas, the only relation to that holiday happens to be that the story takes place around that time, including my first two entries. This story is intimately connected to Christmas, and (hopefully) all the stronger for it.

It's only my 2nd contest, but I'm actually experiencing more "votes per view" this time (my holiday story has been averaging 10.75 votes per 1,000 views, whereas my halloween story only averaged 3.75 votes per 1,000 views). The shocker is the colossal drop in views -- 5 times lower for me this contest. I've been told it might be a result of category selection, but I honestly think EL is right... no one's reading.

Muse,

If you haven't caught Rob's thread, lamenting having submitted a few days before Thanksgiving, you might check it out. I considered that same situation but finally decided to take my chances.

Romance tends to get fewer reads but higher scores. One theory is that the category doesn't appeal to wankers and trolls but does attract readers who expect a complete story, not just a stroke scene or two, and tend to finish the stories they start.

Rumple Foreskin

As the number of entries increases, so does the likelyhood of missing someone. I you do not have an RCV/PC from me, please let me know. I am sure I have missed someone(s). I want to make sure I get everyone. If you have not found a PC from me, let me know and I will rectify as quickly as possible. There may be some of the newest I have still not done and are one the list.

Thanks
Hugo

Ive been toying with another story.. but not sure if I'll finish it or not... long way to go to make it anything....

I have only 24 votes :( some of which are bound to be swept. I'm gonna get a complex.

I thought readers were merely fleeing from me, but I guess there doesn't appear to be a lot of reading going on out there. Once I fell off the front New page my "Norman the Cat :catroar: " reads virtually stopped. Usually the contest page list keeps readers coming but not so far. Everybody can't be shopping, can they?

well, usually i wouldnt say a thing but dayum! i think its just with holiday (in the states) and maybe reader burn out from last comp. i know im behind in my reading as well and i usually get to atleast 80% or more of the stories. will be printing out a story or two to read on road trip today.

Strange voting this time... a few stories... with scads of votes and high scores... some regulars begging... hmmmmm

I've got over 100 votes...my score is very low...*shaking head....I thought this was a really good story too...The reads are absolutely crazy...over 19,000......and 28 PC's
