How exactly does this work? The whole contest submission thing, I mean: Troll sweeps, vote counters and all that. I'm overwhelmed and inexperienced. This isn't the first erotic story contest that I've participated in, but it's very close. Any advice?

Thanks for the votes and stuff so far. Even with another troll bomb, i'm still up there. Yay!

Won't get to read any until probably Monday or Tuesday. The inlaws are swarming all over the house. It's opening weekend of hunting season, and they all come out to the land here. Promise i'll get to them.

I watched that happen in the Halloween contest and ALOT of stories that should have done better didn't because SOMEONE posted into the thread just like this one how the trolls can vote and keep the shitty scores...

This is the second one i've done. First was the Halloween one. Take this with a grain of salt, but...

Stick a story up, put a link in your signature, and hold on for the ride.
Winners are decided by a story's rating. Troll sweeps are done by Laurel and Manu to rid stories of low votes that send your ratings way down the tubes. It's a pretty systematic thing, i think.

IMHO, it's best if specific scores were never mentioned, with the possible exception ot those that are super-low. And it should be a crime punishable by having to spend a week on the General Board to mention any other contestant's score in any manner.

Submitting to the contest: Submit the story as normal however in the NOTES field at the bottom type "Winter Holiday Contest 2005" that will (or should) ensure that your story will be posted post haste and put on the contest page.

Vote Counters: At the bottom of the page when you submit a story make sure the radio button next to "allow voting" is checked or you will not be actually entered into the contest. Normally monthly contests a story needs 50 votes, however because of the nature of the special contests a story only needs 25 to qualify.

Trolls: Little (BEEEEEPS) that go through and vote 1s on the stories so that they will lose their rating.

Troll Sweeps: Laurel and Manu come and sprinkle their special faerie dust onto the stories and remove certain votes from the stories... it also removes double votes because those are NO NOs as well.... they help keep the contest voting as honest as possible while it runs.

I think that was someone who should have known better. But we all screw-up. And it's easy to forget this is a public forum.

We are all guilty. I think even I forget that these contests mean so much. I was totally whacked in the last few days, but what are you gonna do....it happens to stories/poems even when there aren't contests.

I keep redoing my story..thanks to Rump and Dreampilot...I keep going over the story...Totally changed the beginning and not sure if I should have...but, oh well...it's got anal sex, and I am sure that'll help!!!

Thanks entitled & Lizzy for the tips! Now all I have to do is come up with something sexy and Christmas related. My first ever contest was at Good Vibrations back in August (Am I able to say that here?) and I was surprised as hell when my story was picked as one of the three winners. No money involved, though.
