Will/should the House approve the immigration bill?

The Senate has.

The contentious bipartisan effort to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws achieved a decisive victory Thursday when the Senate approved legislation that would allow millions of illegal immigrants the chance to live legally in the United States and to eventually become U.S. citizens.

The 1,200-page bill, which now faces a stern test in the Republican-controlled House, carries a $50 billion price tag. It would double the number of U.S. Border Patrol agents along the southern border and require the construction of 700 miles of fencing there. It also would place new burdens on employers, who would be required to check the legal status of all job applicants using the government’s E-Verify system.

Senators approved the plan 68 to 32, capping more than six months of negotiations that began behind closed doors and concluded with almost a month of debate on the Senate floor. Fourteen Republicans voted with every member of the Senate Democratic caucus to approve the bill — an impressive bipartisan margin in a chamber that has become sharply partisan. The contentious bipartisan effort to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws achieved a decisive victory Thursday when the Senate approved legislation that would allow millions of illegal immigrants the chance to live legally in the United States and to eventually become U.S. citizens.

Apart from the cost, I don't see any real downside.

Sen. Charles Schumer (D) predicts the House will pass it.

no they won't.

The shouldn't with that bullshit $30B spend on border security.

But knowing the GOP controlled house that will be the only part they pass after increasing it of course.

I expect the GOP will cave, because theyre timid and have no principles. Its instant relief from the burden of ObamaCare, and does nothing to stop companies from recruiting more illegals to replace the present horde.

Whats fascinating to observe is the present political constellation. Libruls, RINOs, and faggots oughta be playing on the same team, while blacks, Mexicans, shopkeepers, and poor whites have lots in common.

$46 billion to 25%-secure the border at a time when there's net zero immigration. Does anyone else think something isn't quite right with this?

Fence builders need to eat.

The Republican hatebeast (think: the vetteman and JAMESBWHITETRASH demographic) needs to be fed, usually with public dollars.

Now that their ability to legally hate on gays has been significantly curtailed, they're refocusing their efforts on Hispanics. An East-German style border helps to feed their hatred against all things that speak Spanish.

Amazing how fast they're willing to increase government spending by tens of billions of dollars the moment they see it as advancing their political interests.

It doesn't matter though, the House is a place of ignorance where new ideas are considered heresy. They're going to try to break the Senate bill down into border security bits and immigration bits, and then promptly not pass the immigration bits. Nothing will end up passing and Republicans will be rightly blamed.

With the Rapepublican fixation on goofy government fences and transvaginal ultrasounds, it's amazing that they can look you in the eye and declare themselves to be the party of "small government".

For less money we could set some charges and separate ourselves from Mexico permanently. The resulting earthquakes might also liberate us from California so it's like a bonus.
Of course then we'd have a shortage of farm workers and day laborers but we can solve that by putting all residents of Texas and Florida (permanent residents only) into re-education and labor camps.

Spending $ on security is different from achieving it. Allowing Napolitano (proven unwillingness) to certify security attainments is ludicrous.

Senate bill adds no ICE agents and doesn't mandate E-Verify for all, just new hires.

Rubio, McCain, and Graham never read their own bill.

I just wish I had the government contract for fence building. Place your bets .... Halliburton? Lockheed Martin?

The republicans have to be able to give those no-bid contracts to their buddies somehow!

I think before the border is declared secure, every County Sheriff who's county borders the international border should have to sign off on the certification.

That's just handing them an excuse to demand more federal pork.

The last this country needs is more disease ridden mongrels from south of the border.

You mean like all our disease ridden ancestors who came over on cramped disease ridden boats covered in their own filth??

They should loose the 50 billion dollar fence....nothing but pork....and pass it.

But we won't b/c our government is a bunch of worthless circle jerks too busy fighting over who get's to spend our money to get shit done.
