Guns ARE regulated just as much as dynamite and explosive fertilizers. You cannot just walk into a store and lay down some 20s and walk out with a gun. You cannot go to a gunshow and lay down some 20s and walk out with a gun. There is a three page form you have to fill out and show valid photo ID. That information is IMMEDIATELY run through NICS and a response is returned within 20 min either authorizing the purchase or denying it. If it is denied, there is no sale.

The Parkland shooter bought his gun "legally" because the Sheriff failed to add pertinent information to the NCIC database that the NICS uses for that background check. You want to blame someone??? Blame that Sheriff and the FBI agents that were WARNED and did NOTHING.

Yet some people get dynamite illegally and some get fertilizer illegally and some get guns illegally.

But let's also look at it from another perspective, that of the individualistic neo-liberal. Most of the things on that chart are, from a neo-liberal perspective, people's 'own fault'. (I don't think that for a second, but that's the classic free market economy approach.) If I choose to eat myself into a heart attack, or smoke myself into lung cancer, that's my own look-out. I think it would be a little more accurate, from that perspective, to provide a chart that only took into account instances where someone's individual right to continue living had been infringed upon by someone else. Admittedly, that's all gun violence, not just 'assault rifles', but I think you're dramatically over-estimating the risk posed by yoghurt.

As with Coach, it's a really good idea to read your data properly before you throw them out there to putatively support your argument ... when you actually have data, that is.
