why do lawyers have no sense of humour?

but if people did not conform to type there would be no stereotypes
one of these stereotypes is that people in the legal professions do not have a sense of humour and are too boring , i have noticed that there is some truth in this .
of course there are exceptions to this rule , butnot many of the exceptions post on the board

then it is inferred that perhaps people of a non northamerican perspective may not have what it takes in the humour recognition stakes , i do find ironic . to think that i believed that both mischka and lavender had their humorus surgically removed along with any fun genes and find that she had ascended to this great level of wit is beyond my european bred levels of comprehension.
a post such as this was such a crude but effective tool to bring the paranoid stirrings to the surface .

How come only lawyers get to be accused of having no sense of humor??? I'm about the most humorless person here! None, zip, nada. I never say anything funny. I'm a stick in the mud. I'm a coochie with no KY. I'm like the great-great aunt who really smells like mothballs and has paper white skin and wears this really atrocious red color of lipstick that makes her mouth look like a gash across her face and she has no teeth and she keeps calling you dearie because she can't actually remember anyone's name but she wants to kiss you anyway no matter how hard you want to gag or throw up you have to let her because if you don't you know mom or dad or some other relative will ride your ass with the whip of guilt about how great great aunt is richer than sin and wants to leave it all to you and this is how you treat her and you know for a fact that she's richer than hell but she's leaving it all to a no-kill cat shelter in Paxtwatchie Pennsylvania anyway because there's a cute gay guy who works there who takes perfect care of her cat snooogums who she also insists on having you kiss and that cat hates your guts because it takes preverse in pleasure in doing so and what was I saying? I, er, forgot.

Well DUH... the lawyers you hang around must have that extra 6% charge for Sense of Humor. It get s in the way and makes for a longer case, there is also the risk of emotional attachment to a client if you actually laugh in their presence.

I could go on but Siren is a lovely exception to all this and I am sure she'd hurt me if I bashed her profession more.

Whenever you work closely with people under stress, a sense of humor is essential to maintain perspective, even if you have to resort to "black/gallows" humor to keep that balance. How else could I represent angry people in a system frought with inconseistencies before meglomaniacs in black robes, Pulleezze!
