trying to abide by the precept that it is better to say what is good than bitch about what is bad (a personal one for me, which i dont always follow!) i offer the following

I love this board, the BDSM part anyway. I started perusing the GB, but nothing really caught my eye.

I love it here for a couple of reasons.

First, this is one of the few places where i can be totally honest about myself and my desires, and i dont have to worry about being judged....

Second, i met the French Girl here,

Third, i can ask questions, and i may get a fair share of smart ass or stupid answers, but i also get some very insightful responses,

fourth, most of you are witty, intelligent, and fun to read. and when you are controversial, it is really fun to watch.

fifth, besides the french girl, i have met a host of wonderful people here.

sixth...oh this is really beginning to sound syrupy...back to the normal bitching...

Ummmm, I thought I made it clear I knew it was unmoderated....but if that is the way people there prefer things, then why do they decide what should or shouldn't be moderated in other forums? I actually debate the use or need of mods on any of the forums, but that is another discussion.

GB being unmoderated. It doesn't mean we have carte blanche there.

Spam gets deleted, personal information gets edited etc.
We don't have a specified moderator, but Laurel takes care of spam etc.

To my view, posting a picture of somebody, accompanied with that sort of degrading, humiliating commentary - and check out the thread title! Is quite simply, unacceptable. Not only because it's simply something wantonly cruel, but I believe it violates Lit rules, and also because as a Mod, this person should know better.

But do you agree?

I tried the GB for a while. My blood pressure can't take that much political polemic and my attention span can't take that many new posts, that's pretty much why I prefer life here and sometimes on the GLBT sammich.

LOL, well in essence that is all the moderating that happens here as we try to maintain respect for free speech and open discussion. The difference I see though is we do not as a rule then go to other forums and bring it back to our own to discuss the correctness of the threads/posts there and then act on the consensus of a few to have things changed in other forums...especially when they have clearly not appreciated the element of humiliation play in BDSM so have no grounds from which to comment or rule. It is not a vanilla type method of play, in fact if done in mainstream relationships would be considered abusive, but it is part of play for many in this lifestyle and is not considered abusive by either or any of the participants.

We have a little thing called safe, sane and consensual to which most adhere....in this case that was not breached by Marquis, nor were the Lit rules. To me it is like the male part of society deciding that because they do not menstruate, women do not have a need for nor should they be allowed the use of any sanitary products for that purpose....or Muslims declaring Christians should nat have the right to their form of worship or Christians declaring the Muslims do not have a right to their form of worship. Just because bg and GB posters may not appreciate humiliation and the expertise with which it was played in this instance, does not make it invalid and wrong in this forum or any BDSM community.

Perhaps we could work this out by having some volunteers from the GB who would like some hands on experience with some of those in the BDSM forum so they could gain a better appreciation of what we so love. Of course we would place you in the hands of only our most experienced BDSMers so you don't get hurt...well not above what is acceptable.

LOL, I like that idea very much. The idea of the GB members with their astonishingly (and consistently) cruel inane, obsessive,and insane online behavior looking down on this forum for anything and pulling this moral high ground shit has really made my day. It's one of those things I had, before this event, of classified in the "pigs flying" category of possibility.
