I just thought it would be fun to start a thread like this, to discuss where Jimmy might be. It seems they are still occasionally looking for him, and because the source is a trusted mafioso, they spend big bucks and man hours to dig up another barn or whatever.

The mob had no problem disposing of their bodies. In this city, back in their heyday and into the 70s, it was just as simple as the trunk of a car, left on the street. Of course, those were the foot soldiers. The more ingenious ideas were saved for the higher ups. I won't go into some of the more devious ways I heard about.

Just like in The Godfather, I think he was strangled with a garote. Then, I think Jimmy's body was run through a wood chipper. Not much left to dispose of after that.

Some think he's in the concrete foundation of a large city stadium. It isn't likely they will tear any up, just to see. Maybe some day...

Where do you think Jimmy is?

And if you were going to "off" somebody you don't like, what would you do with the body? It's OK...we're all anonymous friends, here. :D

Even *I* couldn't tell you any more what part of the Okefenokee to check out the gators in... ;)

They probably dumped each piece in a weighted bag in separate spots along the river.

Or, back then (maybe even now) they could have got away with dumping the body at the tip.

Or, given the funeral home connections, they could have cremated him with no-one ever the wiser.

Me personally? Fatal dose of Vitamin A isn't going to get found unless they specifically look for it, so I wouldn't need to hide the body.

Or, if it's the person I have in mind, Heath Ledger style would go down as accidental too. Again, no need to hide the body.

If I had to hide one, I live in a country with a lot of empty coastline. Wouldn't be too hard, especially if I spread the pieces out up along the north west coast. There's plenty of sharks up there.

I figure he's the manager of the lunch stand that Elvis is flipping burgers at...

Abducted and probed by aliens?

I heard about a case local to where I live where a man went missing on his drive home from work and wasn't found for more than 3 years, when a hedge trimming cre was tidying up the embankment along side the highway and found a car deeply embedded in the undergrowth with his mummified remains in.
This was less than 20 miles from central London.
People disappear!

Yes, people do disappear on their own. There is usually some mental or physical condition that assists in the disappearance, though. Well, there could be some alien contact associated with a few...

But, when talking about the mob, it seems like there was sometimes a competition between families to come up with more unique, more dastardly and ultimately more efficient methods of making someone "disappear".

Hoffa was pretty well connected when he went to jail. It's said he was actually the one who requested killing John Kennedy because Bobby was always after him for dirty dealings within the Teamsters organization (if you subscribe to that whole thing) (here's yet another version) and he was becoming too vocal for his own lasting health after getting out. If you're old enough to remember Hoffa, it was just his personality. He liked to talk, to boast.

I'm sure his demise was swift and in typical mob fashion. If you've ever seen the movie "The Godfather", one of the sequels, or "Good Fellas", you know how that works. But getting rid of the body was a different thing. Sometimes, it was left to be found, mutilated with bullets on a city street...to make a statement. But the demise of Hoffa has been talked about for years, now. Talked about so much, many of the stories are exaggerated, if not totally fabricated. And the more flamboyant they get the better, as far as the mob was concerned. It showed everybody that no matter who you were, no matter how high in rank you were, you still had to toe the line, or else.

So, wherever Hoffa is (if there even is a body), I don't think it will ever be found. But, I am always interested when they start digging at another site. Just in case they actually find him.

Out of interest, as older buildings are demolished, have any human remains been found that would indicate mob style disposals?

My friends grandad was a NY cop back in the day, he talks about absolute corruption, no training and the law being upheld by the mere fact that they carried guns!
Must have been tough back then!

I don't know if they have found any remains when older buildings are torn down, at least not mob related. Like I said before, many times they would just leave the bodies to be found. Other times they would leave them in trunks of cars.

I know there were times when cars were then set on fire to help cover up identities, but that wasn't that popular, because fires brought attention to the scene. Some bodies were cut up and fed to livestock or left out in the woods for wild animals to find. Fingers and teeth were usually removed to conceal just who the body belonged to.

I've heard stories of using acid to dissolve body parts. There were just as many ways of disposing of a body as there were times it was necessary. Most of the time, it was left up to whoever did the killing to find a way to dispose of the body. And I'm sure many of them were the type to enjoy their job.

Isn't that (or something like it) the premise of some book or other? My friend lent it to me once, but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me.

I once heard something about the mob running the UPS. (I don't know how true that is.) A body could be dismembered and tidily shipped away to many locations.

Considering how involved the mob is in garbage disposal around here, he's probably at the bottom of one of the giant mountains of it in Kearny, NJ. He sleeps with the seagulls.

My dad a Teamster always said he was in cement boots at the bottom of one of the great lakes. He liked Jimmy Hoffa. And said he stepped on the wrong toes.
