*What period in history would you have liked to have lived?
*Would you want to have your present knowledge with you?
*Why would you want to live then, compared to now?

1. I would have liked the 1820's to 1850's in America.
2. I think my present knowledge wouldn't fit in there, they would think I was a lunatic.
3. Because you can roam free West of the Mississippi River, far from East coast politicians, and their need to run your life. To make your own history, on your own terms.
:D

hmmm probably where I was born, leading much the same life as ever - only in the 1950s :D and with book of all sport results up until now.

I would have become a mean winning betting-bitch :D :D

Now there is an idea! :)

I imagine myself sitting on the rolling lawn of a French chateau with my cross stiching and friends. My musical skills refined as would be my poetry and writing and oil painting.

The opera, balls and regular visits to Versailles would be matter of routine.

I would have a husband who provides for me and is seldom home and at least two lovers, dark and intelligent. Their presence forboding. Their needs, eclectic and insatiable.

Who knows, I may even dally with some of the young, ripe maids who are eager for the favor of their Maitresse?

;)

head lice, bathing about 3 times a year, STD's.... hehehehe I didnt know you were on the Masochistic side of life ;)

1950-60's

Why? Free Love. No AIDS virus,(yet, I believe.)

I think several would have been interesting to live in, if I were able...

ancient Rome around the time of Octavius...just to see what Rome actually looked like.

In America, from any time 1750 to 1865. It was America at its begining, before it was ruined by polotics.

Ancient Egypt....I would have made one hell of a Pharoah
:D

*What period in history would you have liked to have lived?
-Sometime in the 1300's om England, Scotland or Ireland. I actually think I have lived there in a previous life. :)

*Would you want to have your present knowledge with you?
-Not really of use in that time. I'd only bring with me my memories of Draco to ensure that I recognized him there as well.

*Why would you want to live then, compared to now?
-I feel like that's where I belong. I feel almost out of place in this century for some reason. I almost think that's the first time that Draco and I met in the past. It makes so much sense to me. I'm sure everyone else thinks I'm totally insane tho. :)

Well, perhaps I am a bit maschistic, but I forgot to answer the second part of the question.....

YES! I would bring my knowledge with me. I think especially in terms of health and hygiene.

Whooey! Thanks for reminding me :)

I think I would quite like to live at the Habsburg court in Vienna, Austria in Imperial times. Lovely cakes, fantastic living quaters, music, culture, great weather, in the middle of Europe...

1920/60's everone was fucking whoever/whenever/where ever.... 60's woulda been fun

About 5000 years ago.
No hassles,just living.
Oh! yes.Can I take my Winchester?.No.Well I'm pretty good with a bow.

16th century Ireland.

Yes, I would take my knowledge of today but I would need more, definately...making butter and hawking are not things I do right now! ;)

I feel like I have lived there, in one of my previous lives!

The only way I would consider it is if I could control my circumstances in life during those times in history. I mean, really, what if I ended up as a slave in the antebellum south, ancient Rome, or during the era of the pharos?

All those eras and places interest me for different reasons but if I couldn't be idle and rich, forget it! In fact, I wouldn't go back in time to any era unless I could be idle and rich.
Being rich and idle would allow me the time and resources to fully explore the era. Otherwise, I suspect that all my energies would be centered on survival.

Now is perfect. I came of age after birth control and before HIV so I feel I have lived in the window of opportunity.

Life expectancies for women were really low prior to the the 1900's. Exploring your sexuality in a safe way without getting pregnant was very difficult.

Woman had very few opportunities until the last quarter of the 20th century. Much of what younger woman take for granted were hard won battles that took place over a verrrrry long time.
I really won't get into the whole feminist movement.

I feel very lucky to be alive now.

I would like to go and visit some other times, but certainly wouldn't want to live there...

Tough question to answer

If I could spend a week in each century, I think I'd really enjoy the experience, but I don't think I could pick one time period, past or future, that I'd rather live in than now, although there are several periods that interest me more than others and certain parts of the world have more appeal for me.

If I were coming back to this time, then yes I'd want to retain my memories, but if it were a one-way ticket, I don't think I would, because it might make living under those conditions that much harder as we expect more in terms of sanitary conditions and human comfort than they were even aware of in most cases, although we could adapt if we had to and it would make an interesting standard to compare with.

But the chance to learn how things really were without being filtered through a history book or to regain lost knowledge would be amazing.

Me too, it would make my research work I do now a lot more quicker if I could just go back to that time period and then nip home and write it all up :)

I've always had a fantasy about sailing into New York harbor with Henry Hudson before any other Europeans had been there. I wonder if I would even recognise the place. See the islands covered in forest (Long Island, Staten Island, Manhattan Island, Governer's Island, Ellis Island, Bedloe's Island): no buildings, no refineries, no bridges.

But I really do like turning a tap for hot water, soap, and other mod cons, so it would just be a visit.

1830 - 1865 Participating in the War for Southern Independence

Nahhhh...no present knowledge.

I would have liked the opportunity to be in the Old South. I would have fought for my country...endured the hardships with my kin. It's not often you get to die for what you believe in.
