Oh, missed this. (´・_・`)

I will have him eat one and report back. :) I do not like sliced tomato so I will not be trying it.

Just a moment... are you saying you like say, a whole tomato, or a cubed tomato, but not a sliced tomato ?

..........

And hooray for mushroom season!! :D
*jealous*

Well... I don't like raw tomato. There are exceptions to this. I can handle it chopped up and mixed with other things that mostly mask the flavor/texture. I can do cooked tomato like stewed, sauces and condiments. Whole slices of tomato in anything is too much tomato for me. :( I have tried on several occasions to eat tomato, like on a salad, and just... It's gross.

Mister LOVES tomato. So I use a lot of tomato when I make food, but unless it's prepared in a manner acceptable to me, I will not be eating it. I cook a lot of things I don't really enjoy because Mister likes them.

I see, cooked vs raw does change them a lot. I am only a fan of the very tasty ones. I won't eat the cardboard that abounds in the supermarkets. Cooked or raw!

I've never liked raw tomato. It actually bothers me, because I've mostly learned to like many things I used to dislike. o_O;; I keep trying things prepared in different ways until I start to like it. I mentioned to someone that I don't like tomatoes, and she commented that tomatoes grown here taste bad, but tomatoes grown where she is from taste great. It doesn't matter where I've purchased them from, they're all the same to me.

After reading something on the internet, my brother ate a peanut butter and tomato sandwich

I'd try it. Having had and loved the recipe Lyrically posted here, a Peanut sauce with tomato in it, the pairing was scrumptious, so I'd be prepared to try it in a simpler form.

I also love nut curries, some of which have tomato in.

That recipe was the first time I'd ever seen peanut butter and tomato together. :)

Somehow, it still never occurred to me to try them on a sandwich, but I may have to when my tomatoes start coming in this summer. I don't think I've ever made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with tomato jam, ether. I should try that too! :D

Like collar, I am not very interested in the bland ones. I can be a little 'iffy' about tomato at the best times, and when choosing food for myself do not see the point on wasting my calories on bland things. But the really good tomatoes are as different ( to my tastes) as an almost different fruit/vegetable. It's not just where you buy them, but the variety. Some boring homegrown/ small producer varieties are also not worth much bother in my opinion.. 'Ugly' tomatoes ( which I actually find more beautiful) always seem to taste best.

There are so many varieties of tomatoes that it makes my head spin trying to decide which ones to grow every year. I have a few staples that I grow every year, but I always like to add new ones to the mix. Different shapes, sizes, and colours. I've become very fond of the dark brownish/purplish-coloured tomatoes. No one should have to eat a bland tomato. :)

Dear Lord, I wish I had the patience & time to raise tomatoes!
All the power to ya, but I'll still pick mine up at the farmers market :D

I'm a little dubious about the peanut & tomato sandwich, then again I'm a total eggslut and love a poached egg on pasta & red sauce.

Most farmers' markets I've been to have had a nice variety of tomatoes to offer. When I lived in California, my favorite stall to visit was the heirloom tomato farm. Big fan of farmers' markets. :)

I've never had a poached egg on pasta and red sauce, but I have poached eggs in tomato sauces: chunkier ones, like salsa. Oh my, but that's good. I'll have to try it with pasta one day.

Black tomatoes rule. I also like green and yellow ones. One of my treats when I was a market near some where we lived was a market stall where a woman grew and sold incredible varieties of tomatoes. I was quite young and often had to go with my brother in law ( who did not speak the language) and we did not get on well, but we both liked the tomatoes. It was often the only thing we agreed about..

We didn't grow tomatoes last year, and not sure weather to this year, I have left it very late to start some.:(. It's hard to grow good tomatoes out doors in the uk.

I haven't met a colour I didn't like, and there are some in any colour that can be disappointing. Another of my favorites is a gorgeous shade of orange. I will share pictures this summer, if you'd like. I can be very proud of my tomatoes. :D

There is a possibility that I will be living in Northern Europe at some point, and one of the things that always crosses my mind is how much I'll miss my tomatoes. Perhaps a greenhouse, but it's just not the same.

Oh yes, PLEASE give pictures! Yes, orange tomatoes are nice too! I do love those dark ones though. But best of all I love 'ugly' ones, 'heirloom' ones, ones that supermarket buyers do not buy because they aren't uniform and maybe aren't great keepers. But they taste of sun, and ....well....tomato!

And, when you live in Northern Europe, will we meet?:heart::heart:

Greenhouse tomatoes do have one thing.....it's the smell when you walk into a green house. It's incredible. We cannot decide where we would put a green house, so we haven't got round to it yet. It's a really stupid reason. I think in the end we might do a similarly stupid thing and have two smaller green houses, less cost effective, but one can go up by the vegetable garden for things that need just a little extra protection and need not be so pretty ( out of view of house) and one might be in the curtiledge of the buildings and be a little smarter, and be heatable.

Tomato and egg:(:(:(

A visit to England is on my must-do list, and meeting you would be lovely. :rose:

Not a fan of tomato and egg, I see. Until fairly recently, the only tomato and egg combination I ever ate was the one I grew up with: fried eggs (over easy) with garden-fresh, sliced tomatoes. That was breakfast or dinner fairly often in the summer when I was a kid. One of those meals that always feels like home, no matter where I am. :)

And, to keep this sort of on topic: When I get around to cooking dinner, it will consist of me doing I-don't-know-what with the 'refried' beans I made the other day.
