What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

I have six sourdough boules rising before proofing and baking.
Wow, that’s a lot of bread! Have you been baking long? I still sometimes screw up my sourdoughs, but even when it isn’t perfect, it’s still very tasty.
Kale (in this form) and white asparagus are the German culture vegetables.
White asparagus I’ve definitely eaten in Germany, but never kale. Needs to be fixed asap! ☺️
 
It's very seasonal, so...you need proper timing.

I had planned a trip there for November but things happened. But I probably wouldn’t have known about kale, so maybe it’s for the best I had to cancel. Silver linings, eh?

Can you find the kale thing in every corner of the country or is it more popular in some parts and not so much in others?

It's a very northern thing, anything south of latitude 52° might be a gamble. The Rhine area around Cologne has kale dishes, too, but it's closer to a stew there.

That might explain why I don’t recognize it as a “thing”. I’m much more familiar with southern Germany than with northern. I’ve only been in the north in summer.

(I signed up for the canceled German conversation class again for spring semester but my expectations of it happening this time either are pretty low, even lower than before. But maybe, maybe I’ll finally get to speak some German, fingers crossed!)
 
I need to bake for a cookie swap. Normally I make the dough the day before and bake that day, but I’m too busy and I think I have to do the dough and freeze it. It’s a lot of cookies. 60. Yikes.
