What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

I haven't been able to cook or eat anything else than cold pasta because it's hot as hell.
So, cold fusilli with grilled veg. cherry tomatoes and mozzarella. I want a Pizza Margherita today though.

I made fresh pesto w basil and garlic from the garden on Saturday.

Made a nice chicken pesto stir fry on Sunday. Served it over couscous.

Had my daughter and her boyfriend over for dinner and a swim and just ate those leftovers cold. Great evening!

First hot meal cooked at home for over a month, included some shortcuts because of a crazy trip home and a very full day in the wake of that.
Very yummy!

Someone gave the wife a bunch of zucchini the other day and I wander into the kitchen and there was 20 warm loves of zucchini bread on the counter. WELL, I sliced one up and buttered it and was in hog heaven. Just like her grandma used to make!!

What are the round things?

Potato croquettes. One of the short cuts.

I’m looking forward to cooking soon, too.

Full disclosure:
My only part in the cooking process, was staying out of the way while watching and sipping my Martinez.
I did plate it though.

In the aftermath of the crazy trip home, my job was laundry and contacts with the insurance company and the car rental agency.

I’ve never heard of fat rascals. What are they?
They are scone like in texture with the addition of spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. They were made famous by Betty’s tea shop in Harrogate. I think they don’t have the spices in them but this version does. Very easy to make. Should be served warm with clotted cream.

Dealing with insurance sounds miserable. Nice that you got to relax during cooking.

Thanks! Nice to learn about new things.

Just made myself an egg sandwich for lunch, but love when I go to the grocery store mainly to buy some chicken to make for dinner, and then I forget to buy the chicken. Yet I remembered all the other stuff I didn't actually need.

Few things satisfy like a really good fried egg sammich.

I once had a really memorable weekend fuckathon...it began innocently with rhubarb.
I'll report back if the same happens to me. Fingers crossed!
No fuckathon, sadly, but the cake turned out great and there was some hands on sexy action, too! Another great victory for my “nah, I’ll just wing it” attitude towards baking. Recipes-schmesipes.

I originally hoped for a little flatter number, but ended up with a proper cake because I used a smaller dish to bake it in. Won’t complain though, because this is good like this.

Take me now, Jesus.

Matjes, crawfish, cold smoked pike, vendace, potatoes, herbed butter sauce. Strawberries and cream for dessert.

We brought home a hazelnut and liver paté, chicken salad, danish cold cuts, rye bread and cold Nørrebro Pilsner from Denmark and had that for dinner yesterday and lunch today. Very yummy!

This evening it is going to be chicken faijtas, pico de gallo, grapefruit and avocado salad and guacamole.

Both sound excellent!

I baked a tart with bilberries and raspberries today. Rye crust, berries, sour cream filling.
