What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

It was a kitchen day. We bought some bulk hamburger meat yesterday.

Two batches cooked up to use for chili one to freeze and one being made in the slow cooker today, made up hamburger patties for the freezer, and a pan of stuffed peppers in the refrigerator to bake this evening when its cooler.

Looking forward to having chili in the freezer again as its so easy to grab and heat during the week.

Saturday was yakitori and grilled vegetables.
Sunday was chicken and cabbage wontons.
Today is bibimbap.

It’s been a very tasty weekend.

Drool. You make the best food!

Did you make the wontons yourself? I’ve been thinking of trying but somehow I’m sure I’ll mess it up. The wrappers need to be so very thin that I don’t know if I can manage it.

Baked a whole chicken yesterday. I had to guess at the weight. I guessed right because it turned out great. 20 minutes per pound at 350. 5#.

🤗 Thanks.

No, I buy packaged wrappers. I did contemplate making them myself but it’s a lot more work that way. I used to buy a brand that was easily available in most stores but they changed their recipe so I didn’t make them for awhile because the wrappers would just fall apart in the pan. It was seriously frustrating because I’d be making them in the pan same as I had for years and suddenly I was questioning everything like “did I overfill?” “Too much water for steam?”.

I’m so glad I checked out a nice produce store recently because I discovered they have some convenient Asian products like the wrappers. They didn’t fall apart at all! :)

I might make them if I ever get a pasta attachment for my Kitchenaid, but these hands aren’t rolling out much anytime soon.

"Poor Man's Burnt Ends" from He Grill Hey: Burnt Ends.

Its a chuck roast, slow cooked on the smoker, (Hickory, I think) then rested, cut in cubes, drenched in BBQ sauce and finished on a hot grill. Smoky, beefy, the taste of summer, but without the need to cook a 7-8lb brisket.

Potato salad, green salad, nice, cold beer from the local brewery and gluten-free fresh berry cobbler that cooks in a Dutch Oven on the smoker while we eat.

Sunday breakfast. I make killer home fries: yukon gold potatos ( taste is better) cubed. Large sweet onion. Sweet peppers. Ground sweet sausage.
Brown potatos in oil, marry everything together, cook for 15min. Fry a couple eggs. Wife gets breakfast in bed!

Looks like a good recipe. Chuck roast used to be very reasonably priced but not anymore. I'll watch the sales and try this!
