What the fuck did we do before?

I use to read books (5 or 6 on average a week) until all hours of the morning and aimlesly flip thru the channels until sleep finally came.

Eventually, they'll probably make it so you can't do it manually. Ever notice some dvd players, although they have all the stop, play, pause, ff, rw, buttons, don't allow you to deal with the main menu in any facile way?

No, I haven't noticed. I've only used the remote for the dvd player. :)

I'm not electronically inclined. I even wonder how I will hook it up again should I move. lol I don't know how to use half the things on my cell phone. Its bad.

I bet you didn't have Art Bell!

Hey, I still listen to him . . . or, rather, George Nouri. Art isn't around so much anymore since his wife died. Sad.

Actually I do still read...To Kill A MockingBird is a great one but my faves are The Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens and The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter by Carson McCuller...good stuff.

Before internet, and cable? Did we actually read voraciously? Does reading on the internet count? People watch TV on the internet--is this some cross promotional genious? Or oversaturation?

I'm guilty...I admit. Perhaps I'm alone in this? Do you ever sit here and think: "Why the hell am I wasting my time? Am I afraid of missing something? The next 9/11?."

Read a lot, wild a lot, worked a lot, partied a lot and did many of already thread mentioned activities.

Now with internet radio and MP3's I rarely just go searching through the stations to find something to listen to. I never went searching for Art Bell, but sometimes when you have nothing better to do he can suck you in.

The Black Helos still have me looking over my shoulder

O.k, you lost me.

They're those things no one can live without. So, what the hell are you saying? lol

I don't even have a cell-phone. :)

The Internet is as high-tech as I get.

I must say, work is probably the single most time-eater nowadays. Of course, I'm referring to leisure time mostly. Sadly, the more we work, the less time we devote to those simpler ends.

I'm a low tech person. I'm still on dialup for gawds sake. lol :) Before I found lit, the only thing I had a computer for, was email.

Yeah, sounds about right. Lit, Email, webcam . . . that's about it for me.

I did a lot of outside stuff, like fishing and sports and sex :nana: but when we got cable it was different i was out of school and sat around after that watching a lot of good stuff.

I used to use my webcam when I was dating long distance.

Used to play a lot of music. Now I have no time. I seemingly have enough time to be a posting-whore tonight....hmmm...funny that.

Watched TV and played video games, mostly.

Nope. If it wasn't for the Internet, I'd have no social contact whatsoever. I probably would miss the next 9/11.

Really? Do you not like social contact? Or can not be arsed (or am I too fucking nosey?)

Same here, except replace video games with reading.

I suck at video games.

Remote? What's a remote?

A remote used to be when you sent your kid to the TV to stand there and flip channels til you found something vaguely interesting.

d20's. That brought back memories.

Ever have a d100?

Zocchihedron?

I lost most of my hearing a couple of years ago, so the internet replaced stuff like listening to music and watching tv.

I still love socialising - but it can be exhausting - all that lipreading.
