oh Rosy sweety? there are MUCH MORE VICIOUS places than the GB , believe you me ,I KNOW lol and I agree with Chele's reason's also ,clique's make me SICK and i feel if i am not WELCOME on a thread then it's THEIR loss,NOT mine ,lol:heart:   always feel VERY welcome on yours & Cookie's tho ,ty

{{{{{{{Dream}}}}}}}, you are always welcome on Cookies or my threads. and I agree it is THEIR loss. There are lots of nice friendly people here. Others just need to take the time to get to know them.

Thanks for posting.

I post on threads where

1) The title is something that makes me stop and think (like this one)

2) Someone has a question that I can answer

3) There aren't too many previous posts, so I can review the thread relatively quickly and figure out what's been said and the flow of conversation

4) I like the folks there, either from previous experience or b/c the quality of the posts is very high.

One particular quirk about me (sounds like Bashful's #2 and 'Chele's #1) is if the thread is dominated by a bunch of people who have interacted in other threads and, intentionally or not, tend to insulate the thread with their own private jokes and/or references.

However, it seems like a natural thing for a forum like Lit to develop such sub-communities...for me, what's always fun is when I post to a thread, and then find out that the other participants are folks who post on the other threads that I've been writing to.

I don't know if this has been done before, so decided to try this.

Why do people post to some threads and not to others?

My reason for posting is...

1. If it is a thread I started
2. If it is a thread a friend started
3. If I like the idea of the thread.
4. If I think the thread looks fun.

 :D

I was just trolling someone and got side tract.

1) An interesting title always gets my notice.

2) A question I know the answer to.

3) A subject or storyline I don't have too think to hard on or learn too much to participate in. (I surf/chat/post/etcetera to get away from all the thinking.)

4) If it looks like my help is needed. (I don't like to duplicate too much.)

5) If the thread hasn't gone too far without me. (More than five or six pages intimidates me.)

6) If I see someone on that I have interacted with well before.

8) An invitation to a good story thread would get my attension if I ever got one. I tend to prefer offbeat fantasy/horror if anyone is interested.

7) Basically nothing that anyone else hasn't said already, but I don't feel I have violated #4 as a positive idea/thread can never be too well reinforced.

Thanks for the chance to rant, Rosy.

Hi huskie, thanks for posting. Disappointed that you feel the need to make someone else miserable. Is it because your own life is miserable? Do you think everyone else's should be as well?

I find the best way is just ignore people I don't like.

You're probably missing out on a lot by trolling. I feel sorry for you. Such a pity. Thanks again.

Hi Miguel, thank you for posting. Like to meet new people.

I don't think I have anything original to add......but the topic caught my eye.

Friendliness is the most important to me.....a warm welcome to a newbie (as I still feel I am) and not being ignored are key.

I also have to agree with bashfull's (2) is a place where someone I have a special friendship with can feel free to post and play and I do not wish to intrude.....I love following friends to new thread's or old ones I haven't checked out yet, but I don't want to have them feel like I am checking on everything, or stalking.

"ouch" I only slap the ones I don't know.

But wondering if pinching is the most interesting thing you thought of?:p :D

I apologize for pinching too hard. Need me to kiss it and make it better? And, well, shucks, ma'am, there are a few thoughts that happened to travel through this brain of mine.

Well, ma'am, if I shared my thoughts in public would I then still be a gentleman? And if I acted upon my thoughts, would I then be ridiculed? and if I acted and then shared, I would be kissing and telling. ;) :p

Well than don't share them in public and no one need know you weren't a gentleman 100% of the time. As for acting, I believe I just asked you to share them. But I won't ask you again.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I'm already finding that I'm posting on fewer threads than when I first started, but yours always seem to be among them.

Well, I'm looking for new friends...

which is why I post here at all. While I've been on Lit for a while, I don't have multiple-thousands of postings...it always seems impolite to barge into a thread where people are basically chatting amongst themselves....I look for a new thread with few postings, if the topic is germane or interesting, I'll post, and see how others interact with me....it's not too different from "working the room" at a cocktail party...some people you can talk with, others you can't.

Cocktails, anyone?

It's interesting to see the parallels between an off-line social gathering and an on-line interaction like the Lit forum...and you definitely get the feeling that there are folks who are always happy to include someone new in their circle of friends (even those of us who are not 'gurus') and others who are a bit more stand-offish.

Hmm, I could use a cocktail right now...
