What is it with the personals??

I decided to go over there to the "personals" and peek in and mostly all I saw was people looking for a quick fuck, lots of people who were married looking for sex outside their marraige, no romance/long term relationships sought that I noticed.

I come back here and I see people flirting, sharing themselves and their thoughts, getting to know each other, sometimes even getting together, talking about romance and relationships. Seems to me this is the place where the "personal" stuff is going on and I should be posting a "personal" here instead.

I would but I didn't think it would be proper etiquette for this BB - last time I saw someone do that they were admonished to take it over to the "personals". 'Course mine would be a little different from that one.

Why not? We ask each other questions I wouldn't discuss with family. I imagine it would be a rather popular and funny thread.

It always seemed to me that the Personals are - to most - a place to try and hook up for the 'quick fuck' as you put it. People see this as a porn site to get their rocks (or whatever) off. Most people posting at the Personals fail to have more than twenty posts, which I believe says a lot about the people that visit there, and thus slants Literotica's member statistics.

As I replied to FreakyGurl's comments about an ad asking for minors, maybe some limits should be established. Not like I have any say (I'm more the casual observer, I like to think), but just allowing someone to sign up to a writing board to advertise themselves in another manner, well, just doesn't seem right to me.

But then again, that's just me.

(By the way, I realize the irony in that it was the Personals that attracted me to check out Literotica on a regular basis, so don't try pointing that out. I never registered nor posted until then.)

1) I have been burnt big time by casual sex; people with ulterior motives (wanting to get pregnant {I am going to get myself fixed!} or wanting a relationship when they said they didn't, etc.)

2) It often develops into a relationship, and I want the relationship to be there first.

3) I get the sexual feelings mixed up with the romantic feelings and develop relationships with people that I shouldn't develop romantic relationships with.

Some people can do it, or they can have relationships and let them go and deal with the ensuing mess with a minimum of hassle - but I don't/can't; they wreak havoc with me.

Sorry to be down on it, but I get frustrated with all the beautiful sensual women here and most are already taken or too far away to ever think about meeting. Flirting with them, as much fun as it is while I am doing it, only makes it worse for me.
