What has DEI to do with "destroying our culture"?

It doesn't reward or allow incompetence. At all. Not in any way shape nor form.
 
To be fair here, I do understand the argument against DEI. Yes, it can lead to reverse discrimination. Yes, it can result in companies forced to fill "Quotas" of women and minorities to fill positions, which yes; will often result in less qualified (or even unqualified) people being hired while forcing them to pass over more qualified people.

This all makes sense.

If a buisness has a job opening but does not have enough women or people of color on their staff, they might have to hire one simply for sake of hiring a woman or person of color. Meanwhile, no qualified applicants matching that description apply for the job, but they have to pass over a perfectly qualified white male who would otherwise be a perfect fit. So yes, I get it; this is a very, very flawed policy with some unintentionally negative consequences.

But let's be perfectly and brutally honest here. Reading some of the posts in this thread from the usual SS-uspects, and really, the whole premise that it is somehow "Destroying our culture-" These are people who would never, ever hire a woman or a person of color- no matter how qualified they were, no matter how much of a perfect fit they were. And, in fact, would in fact pass over such an individual in favor of a less qualified white male- because they simply don't want non-white males or women working for them.

I mean, lets be honest with ourselves here, for once. Because, flawed though DEI policies are- and I don't dispute that- this is exactly why such policies were put into place.

This country used to be a GSD (get shit done) kind of place, because it was a "Meritocracy."
The offshore oil biz still is (that's why I choose to work in it) regardless of color, gender, or anything else.
During the worst and longest downturn in it's history, I still turned down about a dozen job offers a year.

Next question....

Contraire... it has shitloads to do with destroying our culture... That, combined with overregulation, drives costs and timeframes for public works (and private) THROUGH THE ROOF, leads to lower quality of the finished product, leads to increased taxes, municipal/state/federal debt... all burdens being placed on the citizenry....
That's the short version.

Depending on where you live. I'm in Greater Seattle, where if there is a job opening and 5 people apply, the job WILL go to a minority, LBGTQ person and not to the most qualified.
This paradigm is beginning to shift as people (re) discover the fairness in meritocracy...

Now, the Founders envisioned a decentralized government and we need to return to that and adopt a decentralized currency and remember that a citizen is not a representative or exemplar of a group.

As I said earlier, businesses are using the interview process to weed out the DEI polluted minds. Eventually all advocates of that misguided philosophy will end up working for failing businesses or the CA/WA/OR/IL/NY state governments. :cool:
