LOL I didn't even notice that I was just glad when he came on I could flip the channel and he wasn't on it

I'm the opposite, I missed it by mistake. I had heard he was to be on, but I had NBC on my TV and completely forgot when it was 7 pm. I'm so used to the pres automatically showing up on all channels that I didn't ever make a mental note to remember to find him on TV at the appointed hour.

What does it say that 2 of the 3 networks didn't carry it? It says that Nov is sweeps and the networks put their bottomline ahead of public service in this case. Their news arms did carry the speech according to the radio report this morning.

Maybe that is the direction we are headed to- news stays on the news channels and entertainment stays on the entertainment channels. Thank God Clinton isn't pres anymore. They wouldn't know which channel he belongs on.

I think the networks are either in or approaching the "sweeps" season. Do not underestimate the power of a buck, no commercials for the President's speach....no rating points either.

It says the Networks know the difference between breaking news coming out of the Capitol and one of a hundred speeches a year the President gives in various places around the country. Granted, this particular speech comes during war time, but Bush wasn't announcing anything.

If Bush truly wants to talk to the country live, he will, in Washington, and every network will carry it.
