I am wondering what changes will come from the “weinstein effect”, yes.

Example : in offices will women be left out of informal decision making and become less important or will more women be promoted?

Example : as more sexual behaviors are published and investigated will web sites like this one become more or less popular?

Unfortunately, I think the effect will impact negatively on women in the business world and in other areas of society dominated by males who will now overreact with highly circumspect interactions with women within their areas of endeavor. Many well-managed companies like my own have for years had quiet policies in place that set guidelines for professional interactions between male and female employees.

I think this site will change as society changes.

I agree yes that women will suffer damage to their career path because not so many will trust to be alone with one.

I believe there will be very little change in the popularity of this site. The primary draw is smut, and that won't change more than very slightly, unless Laurel decides to eliminate stories about sexual harassment.

I think women have a better chance of ending the casting couch in Hollywood than reforming the business world. I also think making Money is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to business. Hollywood is more about the social status of celebrity and power over others IMO.

This thread and the misogynistic perspectives shared herein sound like just another attempt to keep women quiet and not hold men accountable for their behavior.

But keep blaming and punishing women for the behavior of men. The reality is that it's not like anything would stop you anyway.

just another attempt to keep women quiet

"The ordinary, garden-variety banter of the office will be lost.

Colleagues will be walking on eggshells, afraid that ordinary gestures of teasing or affection – including all kissing, touching, hugging, flirting and almost all kinds of humour – might be misconstrued and give offence.

Men will no longer meet with women behind closed doors, alone.

Casual informality and warmth will be replaced by stiffness, anxiety and prudishness.

The world will be a slightly colder place. And that's too bad."

If only these men would control themselves and their behavior. But no. It's just easier to blame women.

There wasn't one bit of blaming or punishing women for the behavior of men.

Not even the suggestion of it.

The topic is the fallout effects of everything offense to delicate sensibilities and/or offensive to women don't a sexual assault/rape on the workplace.

Not anymore than it will stop you from being a perpetual victim of your womanhood.

More people like me just not hiring them.....lot of Adrina's out there desperate for victimhood and looking for it anywhere they can so they can get paid without doing anything but being offended. Professional victims galore in California.

I don't want that fucking nightmare wrecking my world, so I only hire guys, mostly Mexican because they bitch less but the Nigerian, Hmong and Viet guys are pretty good too. White boys are almost as bad as white women.

Yes, I think it is possible that #metoo could result in reversing workplace progress for women. :-(

Much like "libel chill", yes?

Tacit acceptance of such behavior by the left, especially in Hollywood (Weinstein) and in congress (thinking Chappaquiddick here) has been legendary for years. So it's no surprise that it's built to such epic proportions. What will happen? Likely this will be bad for women in general, as the entire practice becomes more underground and the Weinsteins of Hollywood and Congress merely find ways to be more secretive and the lawyers get better at protecting them (think Bill Cosby). Men in general will be much more inclined to think of women as potential liabilities, less as equals, and none of this is going to be good for women in general.

Not hiring women because of the behavior of men is punishing women.

Duh.

But like I said earlier, nothing will change your perceptions.

That's just the way it is.

Me too.

You should put that on the applications or job posting.

Rather than deflecting, let's focus on the POTUS who bragged of sexual assaults, the Alabama senate candidate who lied about molesting schoolgirls, the 'conservatives' in politics, sports, and business who've been force-fucking big and little boys and girls for a long time. Don't forget married Gup men fucking married women. See what Leviticus 20:10 prescribes as their reward. SPOILER: They shall be "put to death."

Then we have the enablers. A Comprehensive Guide To Right-Wing Media's Mockery, Victim-Blaming, And Denial Of Sexual Assault (Dated but still applicable.)

Yes, that should happen too.
It's a topic that merits a separate thread.

But I'm concerned about the latest trend in which the meaning of terms like "racism" or "sexual assault" have been broadened and now include things that are anything but.

Such as, dishrag?

"The ordinary, garden-variety banter of the office will be lost.

The 'ordinary, garden-variety banter of the office' should never include any references to breasts, PMS, butts, or any aspect of a woman's sex life..... yet sadly these are all too common.
How many times has a female colleague commented on your tits? How about whether you got laid the night before? Have you ever been asked if your PMS is the reason you're not all happy-happy-joy-joy on a particular day?
My guess is NEVER.
Yet this sort of comment is thrown out to women constantly.
Do you think we like it when men speak to us this way? Heads up - we don't.
But we put up with it because all too often it is a person senior to us that makes these sorts of comments, and we are all too aware that if we bite back there is a distinct possibility that we will be labelled as '...not a team player....' and in all likelihood something like that will follow us as we try to progress in our chosen career.

Colleagues will be walking on eggshells, afraid that ordinary gestures of teasing or affection – including all kissing, touching, hugging, flirting and almost all kinds of humour – might be misconstrued and give offence.

Do you honestly believe that we LIKE our male colleagues touching us whenever THEY feel like???
again....heads up!!
We don't.
We don't want you to give us a hug. We don't want you to kiss us. We don't want you to touch us anywhere. And we don't want you to flirt with us!

What we DO want, is for you to treat us with the same courtesy and respect that you treat your male co-workers. We want you to allow us to do our jobs unmolested.

Question...... How many times have you hugged, touched, kissed, or flirted with your MALE colleagues???

Men will no longer meet with women behind closed doors, alone.

Casual informality and warmth will be replaced by stiffness, anxiety and prudishness.

The world will be a slightly colder place. And that's too bad."

The only reason you lament that it's 'a slightly colder place' and 'too bad' is because now, for the first time in history, women expect men to be held to the same standards that men treat their male counterparts.
And we are coming out in spades, showing just how much inequality there has been.

Well, thanks for calling me dishrag for having a different opinion.

Time to start my ignore list.

There was no differing of opinions. I asked you to provide examples of was is now "racist" and "sexual assault" that wasn't before. Apparently, you have no answer to that question, dishrag.

A slap on the ass after a meeting is a good example I think.

Maybe my experience was different from yours, but I rarely witnessed such obnoxious behaviors in the workplace. People who make jokes - yes.

Are some types of work environments more prone to such things than others?

I think, based on the #metoo responses I have read over the past couple of weeks, that inappropriate behaviour by SOME men occurs in every single workplace.
The reports now coming out by women across the spectrum are showing that this sort of behaviour is not restricted to certain types of workplace.

I am happy that you feel you have not been victim to obnoxious behaviour personally.
It's nice to hear that someone has made it through without any harassment!
