Once again, like many other things, what makes a BBW like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am obese, and often refer to myself as a SSBBW, for clarity. I know I am large, I make no excuses, and I am a take it or leave it kind of girl. Your size is often not as important as your personality and confidence to many men.

I must have personality-impaired men coming at me, then, haha. I often get the "you have a great personality and any man would be lucky to have you, but...". There's often a but. Still, you make a very good point. Perhaps I've got a huge personality flaw.

Note to self: assess whether or not you need an exorcism.

I agree that the true sensuality of a woman of substance is the confidence she carries in knowing she is able to please a man regardless of her size. And I, for one, have never been disappointed.

"Personality and confidence" are key for me, too.

I think the source of my attraction has nothing whatsoever to do with anything physical, although I do prefer my breasts and butts large and full.

What tends to draw me is the possibility -- it's not a fact or a likelihood, even, just a possibility -- that the person has made a choice to be who they are. To not starve themselves for fashion. Again, that doesn't automatically mean that every BBW is confident or has made some existential leap to reject the dominant culture. But it tells me that there's a better chance of having that conversation, of being happy in one's nonconformity. What better personality trait could there be?

After having read through this entire thread (and others geared toward BBWs), I am immensely confused. I'm confused because I'm not entirely sure what constitutes as a "BBW" and/or what constitutes as "skinny". This, largely, is due to the vastly different reactions I've gotten to my own body over the years.

I used to be obese (230, to be exact), and was constantly called fat. I'm in the process of losing weight for health reasons. I'm roughly 20 lbs from the high end of my ideal weight, and thus, still quite curvy. And yet I've had people continuously tell me I'm skinny and make the seemingly inevitable "I'd be afraid of breaking you" comment. I'm not boney at all and have quite a bit of fat still on me, as well as muscle. So, I went from being called "fat" to being called "skinny". Largely, I'm happy with how I look, so I maintain the idea that if someone doesn't like me, so be it. Atop that, I'm not terribly concerned with what I look like. However, with seemingly having gone from one end of the spectrum of undesirability to another, I'm at a complete loss for a reasonable explanation.

So, the confusion remains. I've had people refer to visibly obese women as "BBWs" (I'm not judging either way; confidence really is the "make or break"), and women who, like me, are a bit overweight and still curvy as being "skinny". What gives? Can someone please give me some clarity?

Well my two cents is that I think what makes a BBW a BBW is usually anyone who has to shop in the plus department. But that's just my simple personal opinion. I think defining a BBW or Curvacious Goddess...hee hee...is like beauty being in the eye of the beholder. What some will find attractive others would pass, and vice versa. So to some a BBW is anything with flesh and not a rail. To others their idea is a lady who is so ample she could crush the man, but he would die happy because that what he likes. LOL So regrettably, I don't think there is a black and white here...just levels maybe? I dunno. Just my rambling thoughts. )
