What Did You LEARN today?

Cannibals call humans long pig. I've heard it before, but was reminded from Father Brown

I learned that no matter how big he is, there are still times when my son shows he's still my little boy.

That the Italian word Melanzana (Aubergine, or Egg Plant if you must ;)) is derived from Mela Insana, meaning Crazy Apple. :D

People who claim to be your friends will try to get you to do their dirty work

I found out out that my dog didn't like the Acana fish dog food as she puked it up in front of everyone that was here last night

I've been checking into the differences in natural vs. kibble dog foods and I'm weaning Puppy off kibble and putting him on natural and it's already showing improvements in him. Kibble is high in Omega 6 and that irritates them and not enough Omega 3 which is what they need. Natural grain-free diets are what they need, so look into that for your puppy.

Acana has 2% omega 6
They're interchangeable meaning you can switch between all their foods without slowly changing them like other brands. I don't think she liked the flavor as this morning she ate the beef with no problems (her regular flavor)
Acana is Guelph universities top rated healthy dog food & my breeders top 2 food brand. No filler, preservatives
Alot of people are switching to the raw diet but I'm not as I don't think I can do it when we're staying in Barbados for extended periods of time

Puppy can get lots of raw Omega 3 just having a couple sardines, salmon, cooked vitals (heart, liver, kidney) of local animals. My Puppy loves cauliflower and broccoli stalks, carrots which round out his diet. Shouldn't be too hard to maintain a raw diet there and here with little change. Check with your breeder and see what he/she thinks about it. Made total sense when it was all explained clearly the differences in the diets and what each does.

My gal is now 8 1/2 months & 58lbs. Already had her first heat cycle
She loves sardines, carrots, broccoli, cucumber, apples, zucchini...... Dobes are known to have sensitive stomachs but have her under control except for last night

My son is 8+ yrs old now, a Lab/Healer mix and I wondered why his feet were always bothering him and found out the kibble caused the irritations that made his feet itch. Amazingly, he doesn't have 1 grey hair yet and hasn't seen a vet since he was 8 mths. old. He's never sick and other than the effects from kibble, he's in top health. Puppies thrive on love and affection more than anything, so that's a big part of his daily regime.

For all that he was a rescue puppy that spent the first 8 mths of his life locked in a cage alone all day, he's become the most loving and affectionate member of our family. We treat him with the same level of respect we give each other and not like a lesser being and he's never let us down in any way and vice versa. He was given to us by a neighbour, his third owner in that time and he's never seen a cage, collar or treated like an expendable thing any more. I was sitting and writing one night and he was sitting beside me with his head on my knee looking for attention. I ended up writing My Lovely Wee Beastie that night because of how much he loved me for saving him from a miserable life.

that even though i buy good organic dog food, he prefers a cat turd and drinking out of the toilet.

I asked a vet why dogs do that and the answer surprised the hell out of me. Turns out there's a lot of 'goodness' in turds that hasn't been digested. Toilet water has trace minerals in it believe it or not and beyond trying to comprehend why, it helps them build antibodies to fight off stuff. I do my best to keep that to a minimum, but it's not bad for them. Puppies can be so gross at times. :D

My dog has ate goose poop since those filthy creatures leave it all over the park

Puppy is in heaven at the dog park. So many asses to sniff and pee markings to check out. :D Have to see who's getting what and who's who out there. They learn so much about other dogs it's unbelievable.

I might go to a dog park later. She loves a good run with other dogs
