What Did The Israeli's Learn From Their Nazi Past?

Perhaps they learned that a nation does not achieve peaceful coexistence by acquiescence and submission to genocide.

Especially if they have the unswerving support of the greatest single military might on the face of the earth...

Never again.

They learned that in the final analysis you can only really rely on yourself. Israel's best interests are Israel's only concern, as they should be.

Never again shall we be the victims, from now on we'll be the victimizers....profound.

I wonder if they would feel comfortable shooting at those AK-47 wielding rags perched atop a Soviet / Russian mount. I doubt it. It's all our fault and it'll be up to us to stop the aggression. Oh wait, Colin Powell is on his way. Man, when I'm on, I'm on.

I think the Israelis have had enough of people pushing them around because of their religious views, and they're not going to take it anymore. Wouldn't it be cool if the past centuries of violence and oppression towards the Jewish religion made them a superhuman species through the ironic (genocidal) evolutionary tactics? Only the fittest would have survived, and now they're more fit than any of us. Watch out, oppressors.

Yeah, super-Jews would be the answer to everything. Like being called the "chosen" isn't enough of a mantle.

From a purely technical standpoint you're wrong. The Israeli Merkava main battle tank is one of the finest in the world, far superior to anything the Soviets ever produced. I'd say it ranks right behind the M-1, alongside the German Leopard II and the British Challenger. The Israelis have had no problem waxing Soviet armor in the past, well before they developed the Merkava.

Colin Powell? Hmmm...I'm not so sure I'm really impressed anymore.

This argument bores me. I think Christo had the only possible solution on the other thread, i.e. a Korean style DMZ situation with international peacekeepers to separate the two sides, then let's negotiate.

It's a lesson the Palestinians are now learning. The irony is that they are being taught it by the Israelis.

You've got me there PC, but are the F-16's and Blackhawks really necessary?

The whole thing boils down to the two most inept leaders since well, forever...Sharon is afraid of this whole thing ending like Lebanon and Arafat only knows guerilla warfare.

What we need are two tireless administrators negotiating for peace and hope not war dorks unwilling to lose the biography / martyrdom race.

I think we should fly over and dump marijuana on them. It couldn't hurt.

Weed is not the answer for everything oh Purple One. Compton is flush in the shit and let's just say it ain't peaceful yet...

Right now the populace on both sides are looking for an out. They would dearly love an outsider to come in and give them a reason to disengage. Israel is afraid it's beginning to look like another Lebanon, and want no part of that. The Palestinians just want the Israelis out but know they can't do it.

That would also give them both a whipping boy to blame when they have to settle for less than they said they would.

Hezbulah...(misunderstood, peacenicks with a public relations problem) just announced that any Palestinian leader who meets with Colin Powell, Arafat included, will be assasinated.

Yep.... the Palestinians really want peace ... it's perfectly clear.
