You're not the only one to have struggled with silhouettes!

The general concept of a silhouette photo is to put the subject between the camera and the light source so it is blacked out (or largely so).

Think of it like photographing the dark side of the moon

Neither am I... I honestly wondered what the difference was and did a little research. I thought that other very amateur photographers, such as myself, might also find it interesting or helpful, as the articles also discuss techniques.

@RideFl71 definitely takes some of the best pics on the thread. I was just trying to have a discussion following both of your comments. I noted the winks and laughs. I guess that I should have added some in myself.

Apparently you should have. I guess I don't have enough insight as to how I come across. If you thought I was being combative, I'm sure everyone else did as well. I'd rather know that than not know and just have everyone thinking that about me.

While "silhouette" can have different meanings in different contexts, we're talking about photography. The car seems to be the main subject of your photo but is not in silhouette. There are shadows in the photo, but they appear to be there to add an interesting detail and effect to the overall photo, as opposed to being the focus.
