LMAO re. the stones.

Up and running again, only 2 hr for reassembly including cleaning the surfaces. Better things for better living through chemistry. No spare nuts and bolts nor none missing.

Now for the important shit............scope shopping.

I hate Fall Back Weekend, too.

And it's a shitty weekend to go to jail. The poor little municipal bitches have their asses on their shoulder for having to work 9 for the pay of 8, forgetting (quite conveniently) that they fucked the system 6 months ago by working 7 for the pay of 8.

At the suggestion ofa strange intrawebz person, I sent in a warranty request on my scope. The worst they can say is "no."

Maybe they'll front me a new one to retrieve an antique. Five digit serial number and all. We'll see . . . .

Lifetime warranty's are pretty standard these days...............short of running over them with a locomotive. :) And like you say, all they can say is "No." But they know that if they do that they're off the 'new scope' list.

Right now I'm wondering "illuminated" or not. I can see where illuminated would come in handy in ultra low light conditions, but I don't see myself in that sort of situation. Is it worth the price difference? Oh well, I have time to make up my mind and I'll try a couple of friends illuminated out in the mean time.

As a side note I was getting some coolant leakage into one of the cylinder intakes, so I was having a little rough idle problem. That too is gone now. I'm a happy camper.

Back to the scopes. This is intended to be mounted on my LR rifle, the 300 WM. So I'm looking at either a 5-25x or a 4-20x. I did my competition shooting with a fixed 20x and the higher power can be aggravating. You see every beat of your heart even fully rigged up with shooting glove, jacket, etc. So a 25 may be a bit much. Again, I'll test drive a friends first.

The next is deciding either MOA or MilDot. My mind is programmed for MOA. I can do the tables in my sleep, but all the new tables are in MilDot nomenclature so do I bite the bullet or not?

It's worse than buying a friggin' car.

What's a spare time? I'm so up to my ass in projects that no matter what I do there's something else that doesn't get done.

I did knock out one other little project. My new shotgun wasn't ejecting the new steel base shells smoothly. A trait that seems to be common with all newer shotguns. So I took a section of cleaning rod, some double backed tape, 000 steel wool, and my drill and polished the chamber. It's smooth as a babies ass now. Just need to take it out to the range and give it a test drive.

I had to finish watching one little project. Horns down!

p.s.: edited to add, ya can't have a Mountie win without some Country Roads
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vrEljMfXYo

I watched him perform that at The Emergency in DC with Bill Danoff (the writer), Taffy, (Bill's wife), and their band, Fat City, before he ever recorded it. The premier of the song is credited to The Cellar Door, basically across the street from the Emergency but that isn't quite true.

Bill and Taffy sang the harmonies on the album release.

I'm 'unwinding' now. I just not interested in tackling another project before the Sun comes up tomorrow.

Back in 1980, he and( i think) Bill and Taffy performed it during halftime at the old Mountaineer Field.
I almost posted that audio.

They had a lifetime friendship. Bill and Taffy parted ways but they still got together with John whenever the schedules permitted.

Bill also wrote "He'd Rather be in Colorado" for John. Bill and Taffy formed another group, The Starland Vocal Band, that had a one hit wonder, "Afternoon Delight."

Country Roads live with Fat City.

Well in spite of my best efforts not to do a damn thing, I went and turned all the clocks back. Perhaps I'm atavistically thinking I'll have an extra hour not to do a damn thing.
