Home. Grazing. Went by Wally World on the way home. Got a few goodies, including a new delicacy. And a new coffee cup - the landlady finished the new outlet behind my table/desk and broke the coffee cup, so I got a new one of those, too.

The nepotism baby brother "carpenter" no-showed today. He sent . . . one guy. Without nailers. He literally did nothing. As in, not one thing. The PM called him and spoke to him sternly.

I wonder who's likely to be doing interior trim tomorrow? Best not happen, lemme tellya. Maybe Wat should say something charming to the man. :D

Like, "which calibre do you prefer being shot to death with???"

One of the advantages of being known as the guy who will go anywhere at any time for any reason is that I stay extremely busy. One 0f the disadvantages is sometimes they take me up on that. Currently I am 124 minutes from home..

Not that I was planning on quitting for the night but there's a lot of Territory between where I am and home where an assignment could pop up but it seems rather unlikely. I got out here because it seemed better to just transport this guy and to transport him home he can be miserable at home just as easily and much cheaper than at being miserable at an ER. He was a registered nurse that got into it with a bouncer in a Mexican bar who pepper-sprayed him

The cops were very sympathetic and explaining to him best practices but he was a little too drunk to take their advice or mine. I was trying to get him to quit using ice because the water just reinvigorates the capsaicin. I happened to have a bunch of microfiber cloths though so I kept switching him out and that did seem to help a bit. He must have told me at least three dozen times how much he appreciates me and the way the cops treated him and all this sort of thing there's nothing better than a grateful drunk as opposed to a belligerent one. By the time I got him home he was feeling better and a lot less drunk. It was 45 minutes from home I managed it in 38.

Happy Tuesday!!!

We haz rain for this morning and a sunny-ish afternoon. Sixties, or high fifties. Drier tomorrow.

We had three batches of subs who were supposed to be working outside yesterday when we got our surprise rainy front blow through in the morning. The concrete guys stuck with it and got several truckloads of flatwork done. They will probably be complete in the next week or 10 days, if even that long. And we'll probably be looking for a gutter contractor.

At least we're right along the interstate . . . .

Morning Wat.

Going to give them time off to go vote? :) I don't know about up there, but in most the places I've been if it's 'crete work or drywall they speak Spanish and keep an eye out for ICE. *chuckle*

The weather here is the same as yesterday and the same as it's going to be tomorrow. The weather critters are dying of boredom.

I'm going to get out and do some early errands before the pools open and the traffic picks up then spend the rest of the day organizing my tools in preparation for whatever pops up next.

Ours have the good Engrish. The laborers, not so much. Like, at all.

It's a lot like drywall guys, too.

The paint-n-drywall foreman took off Thursday and will be back today. I had to get one of his guys going on a repair yesterday to keep the next crew moving, and it was a lot of fun. Same guy as the hot-patch conversation.

I had to jump through too many hoops to vote this year, so, fuck it. It just didn't get done. I doubt that anyone I would have voted against wins by one vote, either.

Maybe.

Two hundred years ago, some mickish ancestors migrated to this very part of the world and got jobs as stone masons/layers. I ride by a nice built railroad bridge coming and going that I like to imagine they built. Who knows, it's from the right time period and region.

I always liked playing and building things with my blocks when I was verra small.

Off to torment some weasels. Hope they don't call the ASPCW on me . . . .

Have fun.

In one of my travels to Southern climes I made a trip over to Teotihuacan. The entire city is built with stone, and it's a very large city. First thing that struck me is that it looked just like the stone walls in El Paso. As impressive as that was it doesn't come close to the stone work in Peru. The Egyptians had nothing on the ancient Peruvians.

Voting day in the Bootheel.

I showed up later than the working people and earlier than the lunch crowd so I walked right up the the registrars (? right word) showed them my non-picture barcoded ID that they send me s a registered voter with no cost to me and stepped right to a booth to vote.

Our ballots are kind of funny. The top two positions had four candidates. The next two had two candidates and every other choice dow the ballot was (R) and write-in. We know how to save money when it comes to political campaigns.

We had ballot initiatives too. Three of them were geared towards some sort of pot legalization. All but two were geared towards increasing taxes. One was a referendum on the training of Bingo callers from two years to six months and the other was a hodge-podge of things to "fix" government.

The most audacious one had gotten on the ballot due to the efforts of a doctor who wanted a 12% sales tax to build a cancer clinic with his name on it and to be placed under his direction. I almost admire a guy with balls like that.

Well, it's time to put on a casserole and watch a movie. All of this has put me in the mood for something really stupid. Maybe some Pauly Shore...

I voted absentee some weeks ago. I was almost..........almost tempted to try a two state vote this year but decided it wasn't worth it. If the shit gets that bad I can always move.

Why are refried beans called refried beans when you only fry them once? One of life's many little mysteries.

Home. Grazing. Resting a bit, and then I'll tart up and wander off to where Dawn is. Maybe she'll be more thrilled tonight.

Baby Bro Yo didn't show again today, either. He's really being the monkey wrench in the works. He's (likely) getting a non-feasance letter tomorrow. Silly fucker ain't gittin' 'er dun.

Looks like Wat will be pitching in to get us caught up a bit. I'm sure that he - Wat - can hardly wait.

Baby Bro Yo has been waiting fucking long e-Allah-damned-nough.

Morning Wat.

There was only one election I was interested in, a local one, and it didn't turn out as I'd hoped. Oh well, life goes on.

Exactly on the 'guns'n'butte' thing. Now I just have to decide on what I want. I've got damn near all I need.

The only prediction that I made about this election was that we would get rid of the old asshole for a new one.

Taylor Swift can eat my dingleberries.

I have coffee and some higher RAM to install this morning. No politics to deal with here so only the grocery people and normal st00pid today. Wish me luck, I'm off to people at big boxes :(

Good luck!

I'm fixing up a fresh batch of coffee and looking for threads that do not involve politics. There seems to be a lot of interest in it this morning, ironically populated by more than a few of the, "Why don't you talk about this on the politics board?" crowd.

Duck 'n cover, Housesquaw!

Your team basically got routed last night.

And political threads from non-political folks are the norm on the GB the day after an election. These folks don't eat drink and defecate politics like you and your merry band of bitter clingers.

Time to be calm like water, as good ole Sensei K used to teach you. Take your beatdown like the man your daddy wanted you to be, not the sissyboi your birthsquaw raised.

Perfect day at the range today. Cool, sunny, and with a very light breeze.

I'm guessing Wat is out stalking Dawn. :D
