There still are smart conservatives, but they are in the minority among those with intelligence and education.

FDR served 4 terms during a World War. Trump is 3 weeks into his presidency which was interrupted by a really bad halftime show.
If he keeps all his campaign promises, we're headed for a depression.

Ah yes, the old "even Cokie Roberts agrees with us" trick, where they point to a supposedly liberal source which in fact has a conservative bias if anything. (So named for the pundit who, in my opinion, had the widest gulf between her reputation and her actual politics.) It's one of the biggest advantages (for the Republicans) of the myth of the liberal media.

Nobody said he had any inherent strength based on his approval in Congress. His plenary authority comes from the Constitution.
His authority does not come from his approval rating at the moment, And no president gets anything done worth doing without Congress.

He has done nothing but destroy what better presidents built. Nothing at all.
