Toy or Slave, what is the difference??

Well, I would guess that rosco is romantically challenged in the first place, so he cleaves unto that particular rule like a boo bankie...

Someday I shall oust him from that throne...

Someday. ;)

I'm not sure what a boo bankie is, but it is true, you are a romantic. but I thought you were a masochist, not a sadist....

Kybele, I've said this before, and I'm sure I'll say it again: marry me!

that would suggest that far from being a sadist, you are in fact a masochist.

I'm a dominant switch that kinda loves to bottom at this time. ;)

boo bankie is a security blanket.

does that mean I could be goaded into thrashing you and then wrap you in a boo bankie after?

Newbie here and very curious....

What is the difference between a Toy or Slave?

And can a Dom be romantic?

Serious answer, because it was a serious question: I call my new plaything 'my new plaything' on here, partly because it's nobody's business who she is; she isn't on this forum, but on the forum we're both on it's her choice whether to identify herself or not. But the other reason I call her a plaything is to give myself a little emotional distance, because I could very easily fall in love with her and, at this stage in our relationship, I'd rather not do that.

She definitely isn't a slave, and I don't want her to be. I don't own her. She's her own woman. She's feisty, and not easy to dominate; that makes her a challenge (which I enjoy) and makes her submission when it comes all the sweeter. But her submission isn't given once and for all. I expect to have to win it from her every time we play (and probably pretty physically at times).

So I think that one answer both tells you what the difference between a toy and a slave, and tells you very clearly whether a dom can be romantic.

ETA-- chy_girl said it real good before me! and I guess I'd better take some pics, huh...

Thank you!

And pretty please with the pictures? Cause you're on the hot side and that can only be better in men's wear....

Oh, hell yeah!

Means you can be goaded into thrashing me under my direction. And then I wrap us both in the boo bankie after.

I keep getting self-conscious about the spare tire... but I'll try.

The human body is a beautiful thing - especially if it's a person who's old enough to not look like a newly unwrapped barbie doll.

Besides, I have no room to talk about extra cushioning. And even if I did I wouldn't, because I like softer forms.
:rose:

for the OP, i actually think Simon gave a pretty good simple description of the difference between a toy and a slave.

also i just have to express that i find Mr. Rosco to be one of the most romantic folks i've ever heard of, but of course that depends greatly on one's concept of "romance."

Just goes to show that there's a bird for every worm. ;)

I think tops deserve aftercare too.

And thus my imagination creates a warped OSG-RR image only suitable for the oral servitude thread...

Instead I'm going to read the writings of our extra-special one of a kind romance Dom ;)

Hi bbw4utohave

As I hope you've seen just by reading this thread, there are as many types of BDSM or power exchange relationship as there are people in the lifestyle. Just like regular relationships, you make your own rules with your partner and nothing else really matters. Whatever kind of relationship you want, there'll be someone out there who will complement you. The tricky part is finding out what you want and need without encountering too much of what you don't along the way.

Here's where the terms start breaking down if you can simply call yourself anything you want.

Toy and slave both imply ownership. And, drawing from their "real life" counterparts, they also implicitly suggest the expectations the owner might reasonably have.

As an owner, I would treat a toy and a slave differently. Personally, I would want to play with a toy, create imaginative games, shelve it or leave it in the bin when I had to work, and then expect it to be where I left it when I came back. On the other hand, I would expect labor from a slave that I wouldn't expect from a toy. I would expect obedience, and I might potentially be more harsh in my discipline. I would feel less need to cater to a slave's needs. etc. etc. etc.

People do use these terms interchangeably. But I think, to avoid confusion, we should use different words in order to point to real differences in the types of relationships that can come under the BDSM umbrella.

And. regarding romantic Doms . . . a Dom is romantic when they want to be. :)

I have a growing crush on Stella...so I would like to see this menswear business.

And as far as romance and being laughed out of munches...it's seems that most of the munches people I know attend..the couples be they D/s M/s O/p or whatever are married and appear to be typical couples in the vanilla world. So there has to be some love and romance there, amoung all the sadism etc.

i tend to feel they're most romantic when not even trying. like when he gives you the softest, most tender of kisses after delivering a sound blow to the face...fingering your tears and applying painful pressure to that sore spot, while pushing up your chin and bending to your lips as sweetly and innocently as a parent kisses a child. how much more romantic can you get really?
