The reason is simple, my oldest daughter Tamara turned 13 years old at 7.40 am this morning, it seems like yesterday I was in the delivery suite seeing her being born. The years have flown by and now my baby is a high school girl (in her first year after being bumped up a year during primary school). She is a very talented child and the apple of my eye. God, where have those years gone, I feel so old now. Only one day will be worse, when my youngest daughter Shenade turns 13, but thats only 18 months away.

A question to all the LIT parents of teenage girls. Now that Tammie (as she calls herself) is now a teenager, will i no longer be able to understand a word she says or a thing she does?

I'm just kidding there, I know she will always remain the calm, sane, sensible girl that she has always been and I will always be by her side to help and guide her through the trials and tribulations of her teenage years. I know it was a difficult transition stage for me as a teenager into adulthood, but with love, dedication and tolerance, I'm hoping she will survive the journey. My only other wish is that she inherits her mothers sex drive and not her fathers, otherwise I'll just have to lock her in the basement and hose her down with cold water continually.

Take it all day by day buddy and go with your gut feeling...... I have a few more years till mine hit the teen years.....

And trust me you are not old ;) :D

Draco.. My oldest child will be 15 in May.. I feel even older than you ;)

My daughters (mine and my boyfriends daughter) both turned 13 in February. Cherise (bf's daughter).. where do I start? LOL.. she's into talking fast.. walking with a wiggle and turning boys heads. (She is never without a brush, mirror and a huge bag of make up). My daughter, Megan, is into softball and climbing trees (I don't think she has combed her hair in a month or more.. makeup.. lol.. she wouldn't know how to put it on to save her life)

Growing up fast.. ahh they do do that. Much to fast for my liking..

But yes, you will always understand your daughter.. just in a different way.

Oh.. reading your last paragraph and thinking about my boyfriends and his ex wifes sex drive (with everyone but the man she is with at the time)... brings a question to my mind.. Chastity belts.. are they sold online?

Mine aren't quite teens.. yet.. but the day will come. I've got a 6 year old and a 7 year old (girls)... going on 16 here. Lol, it's amazing and funny and frightening all at the same time how fast they grow and learn.

Treasure each day, even the bad ones. :D

I too felt old when my eldest reached 13.

So how should I feel now she's 34?.:( :)

21 years older?

oh...this isn't a math test? oops...sorry

<bowing out>

feeling old w/o kids.

You're not old, babe. You know that well enough by now. L)

Just remember, there's 2 more already waiting to get into the double digits here. The princess and the monkey are only 5 and 4, so there's plenty more teen age years coming up. :)

You make sure to pass on my best to that young lady you have there for her birthday.

:)

Don't forget to start looking for grey hairs now! LMAO
I have boys. Oldest is 14 this year.

Have raised bigrednz's oldest boy since 14 and he is now 18!!!

*Big groan*

Teenagers are such wonderful individuals!
I remember being one. :D
Draco, being there for your daughter
is the coolest thing you can do.
It is confusing, scary and exciting being a teenager.

:rose:

Debs, thanks for all the advice, a #3 buzzcut keeps the grey away...lol

Draco I have 3 daughters aged 4, 6, and 7. They are all speaking languages I can't understand and when I finally do get the lingo it changes... The best way I have found to keep up is to sit down with them and get them to explain the language de jour to me...

That isn't garaunteed to work either... that means that at 38 I find myself discovering new grey hairs in my beard every day...

God I feel old some times...

I already knew you were old...

which reminds me... who IS the flowergirl?

Bah, he's not that old, Cheffie. And besides, it's not "old", it's "experienced". :D

Flowergirl, huh? Well, there's a certain 5 yr old little princess in my house who'll wanna take that place, so long as it involves her wearing a "pretty dress" and having flowers in her hand.

:)

Cheffy, you young whipper-snapper. Old age and treachery will out-do youth and enthuiasm any day (jeez I'm deep tonight)

Wolfy, no grey hairs in the goatee yet, but plenty in the sideburns and I inherited my dad's receeeding hair line....HELP!!!

Sweet Cherry!

I like your new av, but rather miss seeing you :)

Old? Yes, I feel old. My children are four and six as I role into my 37th year.....

Yes, sometimes I feel too old for such youngsters. Other times, I know they keep me young.

My fear, they will be teenagers when I am going through menopause. Egads! What a grand time in this household!

*waving to MissT*

I got tired of seeing my mug up there. I kinda like this one tho, seeing as how she's riding the dragon, which is where I'd like to be right now.

Draco, no worries about the receding hairline. Just keep the goatee and you'll always have a happy woman. :D

For those that dont know...

I'll be 38 in July.

And Happy Birthday to you MissTaken.
Enjoy your day :rose:

Now I feel really old. I am 32. *sob*
13 and 8. :D

P.S At the moment I will swap my 13 year old for anything. Kittens. Doing dirty laundry. Mowing lawns. Cleaning gutters. :D
He's kinda cute but the whole hormonal thing is getting on my nerves. :) I never know where I stand on a daily basis. Today? "Yeah show me affection." Later today? "Gross Mum. Gettoffa me." Tomorrow? Who knows?

:D :p I lub him.

Draco? I hear you on the not so long ago they were little babes. And now they are teenagers. :)

Hey man... I can let you have some of mine... I got it down past my shoulder blades...:D

The thing that makes me feel EVEN older than I already am, is my two nieces Mandy and Tessa, with their little babes Carissa and Alex, and they (my nieces) INSIST on calling me Great Uncle Mike, I cant help thinking of Great Uncle Bulgaria (The Womble)

Hey, don't think of it as a Great Uncle bit, babe. Think of it as a great Uncle. Meaning wonderful, not the other way. :)

I hear you!
Remember you're a womble
what a womble you are...
A favourite from my childhood. :)

The Wombles

"Underground, overground, wombling free,
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we,
Making good use of the things that we find,
Things that the everyday folks leave behind.

Uncle Bulgaria, he can remember the days
When he wasn't behind the times
With his map of the world:
Pick up the papers and take them to Tobermory.

Wombles are organized, work as a team,
Wombles are tidy and Wombles are clean,
Underground, overground, wombling free,
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we.

People don't notice us, they never see,
Under their noses a Womble may be,
We womble by night and we womble by day,
Looking for litter to trundle away.

We're so incredibly utterly devious,
Making the most of everything,
Even bottles and tins:
Pick up the pieces and make them into something new
Is what we do.

Underground, overground, wombling free,
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we,
Making good use of the things that we find,
Things that the everyday folks leave behind. "

In May of this year I am
going to be a great Aunty.
My niece has picked out his
name.

(Try being a step gramma to
an 18 month old. Had baby all weekend.
She is now calling me nana as in banana)

:D Poor lady in the supermarket asked how old
my baby was. I told her the truth and she went
quiet.

One day you will be Grandpa/ Poppa/ Grandpa Mike!:D

Alexander (in firemans hat) and Carissa at xmas with Great Uncle Bulgaria..oops typo Mike.
