I have no idea where you live, but the reality is AU and NZ did take expert advice and for that reason have saved thousands of lives. There is no perfect distribution of support in these times but mostly they have both done a great job.
Clearly there are many Governments around the world where caring and protection of its citizens isn't their first priority.
