Titans: The Revised Adventures RP

Angel jumped almost a mile when Starfire spoke behind them, getting up quickly with a reddened face. Had Robin heard her? She hoped not... but she doubted highly that he hadn't- especially with everything Ashton had told her. The guy probably had some of the best hearing ever... "Uh- so, um... that lady... she gon' be alright?"

Starfire smiled brightly and rushed to hug her friend.

"It is very good to see you! And yes the woman is in the hospital! I am glad to be with you all again." She cheerfully exclaimed once again. "So what have you been occupying yourself with while we have been away?"

"Hrgggnt-!" Angel gave a half smile- half grimace as Star gave her another of her bearhugs, gasping for breath when she finally let go. "Nice t' see you too, Star..," She said with a laugh, thne glanced to Ashton at her question. "He was just explainin' t' me what the Titans are... an' then Raven took off." She scaratched her head, glancing towards one of the windows. "Not quite sure where she was headin'... but I don't think she much likes m'."

Starfire let Angel go and apologized for hugging her so hardly. She would try to restrain her strength from now on.

"Nice t' see you too, Star.., He was just explainin' t' me what the Titans are... an' then Raven took off. Not quite sure where she was headin'... but I don't think she much likes m'."

"Oh, well I am worried about Raven then, she should not be off by herself. Should I go look for her then?" she asked.

"I was thinking of showing you the band room and choir rooms next, if you're interested." He'd been in the Men's Chorus before Marietta, but he'd probably leave it behind here. Too much chance of getting excited and blowing up. "Are you into music?"

"Alright. A drink then."

She grinned brightly, already at ease with this young man and his relaxed humor. She slipped from her desk as nearly all the other students had left the room, her books scooped up into her arms. Following along after him as he lead on with his guided tour.

She nodded to his indication of visiting the library and blinked a bit with the loud rumbling of his belly, she said nothing to acknowledge that she heard it. He seemed too prideful to want it mentioned. She did file it away in her mind though, Donna was very good about observing details and remembering them.

"I love to read, mythology, history and photography mostly. I like to take pictures."
She smiled wistfully when discussing her hobby, it was one of her few passions and her locker would be decorated soon enough with her photos. A small stack was already in there waiting to be put up. Lovely nature shots, wonderfully composed architecture and of course some well done portraits. A couple of the same handsome face smiling a cocky grin to the camera as he feigned modesty, those were among her favorites. Mid thought she stopped and turned, her hand dropped to his arm in excitement, her grip quite a bit more substantial then her decidedly feminine form would allude.

"You should let me shoot you sometime!"

She was bubbling with excitement for that, she did love photography and found it one of the easiest ways to have her mind distracted from the doldrums of moving and settling in. No more thought than the fun of it given and she was following him in his discussion of music.

"I love music, I sing a little, but I was never good at any instruments really."

Not entirely a lie, she had spent a good deal of hr life learning warriors epics and chants. So she could sing, it was just not like so many others who learned to do so listening to the radio.

He blushed, both from her words and her touch. It was a simple thing, part of her excitement over her hobby, but it still sent a thrill through Grant. He just didn't get that kind of reaction from pretty girls. "Uh...I mean, I don't think I'm exactly, uh, photogenic." He shrugged, running a hand through his hair. "But if you say so, I'll give it a try." More excuse to hang out with her too, had to love that.

"I love music, I sing a little, but I was never good at any instruments really." She sure had the lungs for it...not that he'd checked her out or anything.

He smiled, "Yeah, I was in the chorus at a few of my schools, tried to teach myself some guitar." "There are just times when you need to play the blues." A lot of those times lately. He should try and find a guitar somewhere. Maybe buy one secondhand with the money he got after beating up another drug dealer.

"You know, what you were saying about photography," he continued as they walked down the hall, "Vector City has some real potential for photos." "There are high tech districts right next to old money next to slums." "I don't know if you're into that kind of...whachacallit, photo journalism, but it could be cool."

They went past the nurse's office and the main office, to the gym and the auditorium. They walked through the back hallway where the drama classes met and the band room was located. Finally, they emerged out into the light of day, above the football field. "That's all I can really think to show you at the school." He scratched his head, trying to think of some way to keep this going.

"If you'd like, we could go to some of the local hangouts." "I don't know too many of them, I've had a lot to do, uh, moving into town myself." If you could call sleeping in a condemned tenement and breaking into the school before hours to shower "moving in."

"Are you kidding? You're great looking, just let me take a few shots and show you."

She grinned and stepped a few steps ahead so she could walk backwards and frame his face with one hand. Miming taking a photo shoot, they would have a blast with some snapshots. She paused, turned on her heel and feel into step with him once more.

"I knew a guy who could play guitar, it was amazing to watch him play. I've always admired people who could do it. I'm all thumbs with it, I think I even broke a couple of the strings."

Her head hung in mock shame, she'd felt bad even bought him new strings, but she just had a hard time learning the delicacies of her strength. She had decided that being behind the camera was far safer for everyone then performing. She was just not the center spot light kind of girl.

The city tour he sort of hinted at sounded great to her, but she didn't want to impose on him, he'd already given up a good part of his afternoon to showing her around. She hated to keep him so busy.

"Oh, I don't want to keep you from your girl friend or anything. You've really been great just to show me this much. I'm sure I would have been lost without you."

Grant laughed, "You're thinking way too highly of me." "I don't have a girlfriend or uh, well, anything." "I don't have family here, or friends yet." He shrugged, "I know that's pathetic, but it's the truth." "Honestly, meeting you and showing you around has been the best thing I've done in this city."

Why did he tell her all that? It was those eyes. They just...there was so much warmth and kindness there, it just reached out and made you speak. Worse yet, it made you tell the truth.

"If you have someplace to go, that's cool." "I understand." For a moment, he thought she might use something as an excuse to get away from a geek like him. But then he dismissed it, it just wouldn't seem right for her. Not that he knew her from Adam, there was just something...good about Donna Troy.

"If you don't though, why don't we get that drink?"

She was shocked, and it showed with her near dead stop in her tracks. No girlfriend?

"But..you're so nice, and cute. I thought all guys like you always had somebody."

Ok now she realized that what she'd said might be taken a bit as flattery or flirtation and she blushed a deep crimson, her head dropping to hide those flaming cheeks behind a veil of thick inky locks. That was hardly the most charming thing she could have said.

"I don't have any friends here either, looks like were both outsiders. And you showing me around means a lot, just someone being nice means a whole lot. I really do appreciate it."

Little bit of a pick up in her head then, attempting to meet his gaze without blushing madly yet again.

"I don't really have any plans so, if you'd like a drink sounds really nice."

Nice? Cute? Grant's face must have shown his shock at her words, as Donna immediately ducked her head, blushing brightly. Man, this girl was really messing with his head. Completely accidentally too, from what he could tell. He shook his head, "I wish more girls thought the way you do, maybe I would have a girlfriend." He paused, "or would they have to think I didn't have somebody, so that would be the opposite of what you said...forget I said anything."

Okay, so he wasn't handling this well. He just didn't have any experience with this kind of thing. "I don't have any friends here either, looks like were both outsiders. And you showing me around means a lot, just someone being nice means a whole lot. I really do appreciate it." Little bit of a pick up in her head then, attempting to meet his gaze without blushing madly yet again. "I don't really have any plans so, if you'd like a drink sounds really nice."

Grant nodded, "My thoughts exactly." "Let's go, there a cafe not too far away that a lot of the students hit." They started walking, Grant taking a moment to look around the school grounds as they left. Something about the day, he'd never noticed just how good the place worked, or how pleasant the light of the sun was. Of course, that might be due to his companion's influence. "You know, this is going to mark me as a huge geek, but to reference an old movie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

The sun was setting early, the sky already turning a patchwork of oranges, reds and yellows all fading into a deep ruddy purple. The sunset was lost of Ghost. He liked autumn, the days were much shorter and the nights came about so easily. The less sunlight the better.

He was standing the middle of a large graveyard. Cracked and crumbling tombstones and statues of angels surrounded him on all sides. The plants were dying, or already dead and it looked as if no one paid much attention to the residents of the graves. The dead were forgotten here, left to whatever fate the afterlife had for them. Ghost felt strangely at home here.

A sound came from behind him, the sound of metal scraping through gravel. Turning his head, Ghost made out the figure of a slightly overweight man, dressed in a simple blue uniform.

" 'Scuse me young man, but the graveyard is off limits after hours. Best be heading back now" The grounds keeper waved the spade of his large rusty shovel in the direction of the exit. His voice had a hint of a warning.

"There's a grave I'm looking for" Ghost replied, keeping his voice low and dangerous. "The grave of a man named Slade"

"Slade? Don't think I know that name" The grounds keeper murmmered as he approched, closing the distance between him and Ghost, bringing his spade up in the air like a battle axe, cleaving downward aimed at Ghost's head. The man in the white coat phased intangible, allowing the blade to pass through his body, letting it collide harmlessly with a stone pillar, cleaving it in two. Ghost's translucent form floated inches above the ground, weaving back and forth between the tombstones, phasing through the many obstacles as he circled his new attacker. The gravedigger moved with incredible quickness, slashing over and over with his spade. Ghost sighed, this was boring.

Moving in quickly, Ghost clamped a palm down of he gravedigger's bald head, sending a powerful jolt of energy through his arm into the man's mind. Ghost smiled behind his collar as images of the man's terrors, the phobias that haunted his dreams, were all pulled out and magnified 100 times. The digger's body went limp and he crumpled to the ground.

"Secret elevator eh? Thanks but I'll take the direct route" Ghost said to the man's shakig form. Folding his arms across his chest, Ghost sank slowly through the ground, moving down through the Earth to the secret facility below.

She laughed again, that sound which was every bit as musical as she claimed she wasn't. They were an odd pair but she found herself liking this boy more and more. He was sweet and very kind.

"Let's find that cafe then. And I don't think that sounds geeky at all, I like it."

She slid her arm through his and rested her head on his shoulder. Day one was turning out to be pretty good so far. She already had a friend and she was learning her way around, maybe this time things would be different. They walked the distance to a small corner cafe, just across the street was a trendy looking coffee shop. Donna admired the slick look of the place and it's cute name..Second Cup...someone was creative.

Arm in arm Donna and Grant walked into the small cafe and she eyed the menu. She thought back on earlier and turned to him with an imploring look.

"Would you be up to splitting a pizza? I love it but I can never eat more then a few slices. I see they only sell whole pizza here and it's a shame to throw it away."

Grant was about to say something clever when she slipped her arm through his, a moment later her head resting on his shoulder. He stiffened, muscles tensing, his eyes wide. He was certain his heart actually skipped a beat. She was....and he...with the...

He was frozen for barely a fraction of a second, then his blood flowed freely again, though most of it went to the blush that turned his face red. Donna was warm, the skin of her arm smooth against his. Her dark hair smelled of flowers and the sea, and some mysterious scent he couldn't identify. It filled his nose, delighting and tickling his senses. A guy could get to like this, though he didn't think he could ever get used to it. Though he would love to try.

Great. He was crushing on her already. Remember, she's just looking for a friend. He didn't even notice when they got to the cafe, too busy trying not to watch her and to ignore her fascinating smell. Arm in arm Donna and Grant walked into the small cafe and she eyed the menu. She thought back on earlier and turned to him with an imploring look. "Would you be up to splitting a pizza? I love it but I can never eat more then a few slices. God in Heaven, was there a more perfect woman? He hadn't eaten a fresh meal in over two weeks. "Sure!" "I mean, if it's not too much trouble...I don't have a lot to kick for a pizza, I'm afraid." He got all his money from the bad guys he stopped, and they generally didn't have much. Which was probably why they were robbing people and stores. "I hate to waste food too."

The two walked over to a table. The inside was decorated with photos and paintings by local artists, and from hidden speakers a slow blues melody was playing. Much as he hated to have her let go, he pulled a chair out for her. He really wasn't sure how he should start up the conversation. "Uh, so, do you have family in Vector City?" "What brought you to town?"

"What brought you to town?"

"No family, I'm sort of on my own you could say. My mom and dad died a few years ago, I had a mentor who looked after me until I could legally look after myself."

All truth, her foster parents had died in a fire, one which she had been spared. But nothing in her life was as easy as a line from point A to point B. Not since she'd been showing just how twisted her lives had been, but there was no way she was going to bring that up. Not when she was having a real normal friendship with a real normal guy. Who was really cute.

They ordered and Grant pulled out a seat for her, they sat next to the widows that faced the side street and Donna was able to watch the world from an aquarium point of view. People walking by, children playing in the afternoon sun. It seemed surreal and peaceful. The music helped set the mellow tone and she found herself swaying slightly to it, enjoying the rhythm.

"This is a really nice place. Oh and don't worry about the bill, you can pick it up next time. My treat for showing me around today."

Fair was fair, she wasn't offering him charity and something of a second chance to do this again all in one.

"No family, I'm sort of on my own you could say. My mom and dad died a few years ago, I had a mentor who looked after me until I could legally look after myself."

"That's rough, I'm sorry to hear that." Grant sighed, he didn't mean this to be a depressing conversation. His own loss in that direction was so recent, so fresh. "I know what that's like." "My par-, my foster parents were, I mean, died a few months ago." "I don't know who my real parents are, or where they are." He shook his head, "So I'm on my own too."

Change the subject. Don't let her know just how on your own you are. It was easy enough, as Donna seemed content to just sit and watch the passing people. Grant had never taken the time to watch people before...there was a lot to see. The meetings and partings. Huh. Of course, he also was distracted by watching her lovely form swaying to the music. Wow. He really must have done some good in a past life or something.

"This is a really nice place. Oh and don't worry about the bill, you can pick it up next time. My treat for showing me around today."

Her words broke him out of his reverie. He smiled, "Deal." "Though a guy might think you were hinting at wanting to go out again, Ms. Donna Troy." "Some guys might start to get ideas." His tone was teasing, but the warmth of his eys and smile was genuine. It had been a long time since he'd just sat and talked with someone. He almost felt normal. "I'd really like to do this again soon." "Maybe tomorrow?" "There's a lot of city to explore." It was that strange something about her, it was making him bolder than he ever was.

He'd have to get some money...which meant no homework tonight, he would need to get out on the streets and bust some criminals. Maybe he'd get lucky and nail a dealer. They usually had decent money on them.

"I'm so sorry."

The news of his own loss, so fresh yet to him struck her. Here he was still dealing with that and yet being so kind to her. Her hands moved across the table and set on top of one of his, she gave him a soft serene smile.

"I'm sure they would be very proud of you. I was told once when I was young that death comes to everyone when it is ready, not when we are. It's a mark of our own spirit as to how we face it."

Hippolyta had been a wise woman, you did not rise to Queen of the Amazons if you were not. She was a warrior and a woman of such strong and loving spirit. The mother Donna had only known a short time but still would hold in her heart forever.

"Would you want to go out again so soon? I warn you, I am not really all that interesting so you might run out of reasons to want to be around me fast."

A chuckle and pat to his hands before her own pulled back and the pizza tray was set down between them. A tall glass of water for Donna set down as well, and his own drink put into place. The pizza smelled heavenly and looked even better...it was indeed the perfect food. One she'd been fixated on since leaving Paradise Island.

Robin smiled at Starfire’s hug attack on one of the females, then walked over to Ashton. “I called Di, told her to come meet the new recruits. Turns out she has some potential Titans as well. She should be here shortly.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Ghost entered the secret facility, a guard patrolling the corridors stood frozen, pale and rigid, at the sight of the ethereal man. He wore a red uniform with patches on either shoulder that read HIVE, and after a moment, finally managed to make a sound.
“It’s a ga-ga-ga-GHOST!!!” he screamed, and ran down the hall like a terrified little girl.
OOC: So tired, another small post. Next week will be better because I’ve changed my last day at my old job to this friday.
Raven stretched as she stood, looking out to the darkening water behind her as she pulled her hood back up. She had been out there for awhile.. but at least it helped her calm down. That Ghost had rather... confused her. Still, she couldn't let herself linger on it. She had promised Angel she'd be back in a little while... and that had been what felt like hours ago.
Her hands open wide, the black clouds circled them and her body lifted from the small cement platform. As she started to rise, a sudden strange feeling filled her- like she was witnessing the inner images of someone's mind... And that terrible feeling down her spine that Ghost's powers had given her before. Not expecting that, she fell back onto the cement, cursing softly as she rubbed her side. "What the hell-?" She tightened her fists, taking off once again and bolting up into the sky, looking around for Ghost, the obvious source.
Nothing.... Perhaps she had just been feeling the graveyard she had been so close to during her meditation. With a hard sigh, she headed back to Robin's apartment.
Ashton nodded, then stood up. "I was just telling Roulette here that we may need a new base of operations with all the new recruits."
“Yeah,” Dick agreed. “There’s that old tower building by the Old Park. That guy Spinter has been trying to get rid of it since like the seventies or something. We could buy it and fix it up.”
Ashton nodded, then thought for a moment. "We'll need someone with more technical knowhow than both of us combined."
Angel glanced between the two, then gave a meek shrug. "I can try t' help out as much as I can.. If anythin' I can clear up some messes fer ya. Don't think anybody'd miss it once I was done with it." She smirked, then looked to Star. "'Course, maybe us girls should be the ones in charge 'a' gettin' some furniture fer the place. Knowin' what most guys do... everythin'd be steel and leather."
Starfire looked on in a manner of eager anticipation, wondering what exactly they would be doing.
"Why do the guys buy only steel and leather? Do they not like the other materials to which things are made of?
Oh. Right. Angel kept forgetting, Star didn't quite get most of the things in american culture. She wondered what country she was from? "Most guys like t' have things kinda... rough 'n' manly. Might be shiny fer 'em, but not all that comfy t' be sittin' on. I was thinkin' we could go find the new place somethin' nice to be crashin' on- seein' how we're gonna be spendin' most of our time there."
Raven finally returned to the apartment, her hood pulled low and her cape tight to her as she headed for the far corner of the living room. "Most of our time where?," She asked flatly, settling down into the chair and tucking her legs beneath her in the cape. "Is... something going on?"
Roy. (To get things going. Sorry so late.)
As Di spread her legs Roy let his hand finaly travel up and Stroke her through her jeans. Then Reikka walked away.
"Hell. Ok Well as much fun as we have been having we should probably get going to Dick's place like you said. I'm sure we can have some fun after that."
Roy gave her a kiss, and Stepped up offering her a hand. Reikka was still outside Fuming on her Bike.
"So who know the way there?"
