From reading the article, it appears that there are no restrictions on cougars.

Among other changes, people with an age gap of more than 14 years can’t contact each other and sexual messages sent to and from user accounts on first contact are filtered out by an automated system picking up on key words.

I'm sure they consider women to be people, so they apparently can't either.
But it's not 100% clear. It sounds like it's only sexual messages and that other messages are ok.

In reading the link in the original post, I am not sure how eliminating the intimate encounter area of POF will stop guys from using it just to get laid. Having a special section meant you could check if they were in that area too, and somewhat determine their interests.
