I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear.

a degree in "mathmatics" (sic).
Does it actually say that on your diploma, college boy?
If so, that would explain a lot.

How would you know what's on a diploma?

But if my typo's are the best rejoinder that you can employ, I'd say maybe you should try the College of Pheonix. I hear they have a killer debate team...

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, unless of course, you can somehow pin it on Bush.

The more I think about this more and more aspects appear.

First of all, Bush isn't necessarily off the hook. Did the people in the Pentagon attempt to make another pass at the FBI after the change in administration? Bush is still somewhat isolated from those consequences by the existance of Gorelicks order. But an attempt to bring the information to light would have also highlighted that misguided order.

There are some 'hyper-ventilators' out there that seem to think the use of that information would have prevented 9-11. That isn't necessarily true. First of all, all Able Danger had turned up was "possible" al Queda ties. Circumstantial evidence that warranted a follow up, but nothing conclusive. Further, this was a data-mining excersize so absolutely no information regarding what Atta and his cronies might have been planning was, or could have been, revealed. We are also left to ponder what the FBI might have done with that information. Given the state of the FBI at the time my suspicion is "not much." The bureau had become overly PC with regard to foriegners. They might have done a preliminary investigation and written a report that would have sat gathering dust somewhere. I can find no reason to believe that had the FBI recieved the information that a damn thing would have changed.

I also doubt that the Clintons are going to suffer much from this either. Not unless Hillarys hand suddenly appears. Bill may have been totally ignorant of the Gorelick order. There is no evidence that Gorelick went any higher than her immediate supervisor in the construction of that order.

The entire incident does point out that the 9-11 commisions report wasn't as rigorous as it could have, or should have, been. It throws a new light on Sandy "Burglars" acitivities and it most certainly highlighted the misguided order that Gorelick wrote up. (And calls into question her having been part of the commision to begin with. Ashcroft was dead on about that.)

In any event, it needs to be looked into. Who knows what else will turn up if enough rocks are kicked over?

The whole blame the democrats, blame the republicans game is a big slippery red herring.

The fact is your government knew it was coming and sacrificed those people as the justification for invading an unrelated country to secure oil supplies.

Which is the most insanely fucked up chain of events one could imagine getting past 250 million people without someone at least noticing.

At least when Roosevelt sacrificed the people at Pearl Harbour, the plan was to use it as the justification to invade the people who actually did it.

But no matter how you slice it, it's not just your parties that are fucked up, not just your government...it's the whole country. You're the biggest war-mongerers and mass murderers in the history of the planet and you actually think you're the Good Guys.

Holy mass delusion....makes Hitler look like David Copperfield.

Lance, when your country is attacked, we'll give a shit about what you think.

Until then...

Hey, our government let us down bro. I'll give you that. It all started with the Church Commission. Just another argument for limiting government and self-imposed isolationism.

2. Hey, our government let us down bro. I'll give you that.

Statement 1 makes no sense.

Statement 2 is the one thing you should be concerned about...your guys are supposed to be the best and they were either incompetant or willfully blind.

I've seen a gazillion threads in my years at Lit pointing out how the US isn't the best at ANYTHING from education to alms for the world's poor...

Shut the fuck up.

I need to offer up a correction.

It seems (according to the aforementioned threads) we're the best at fucking up the world's environment.

We're number one!
We're number one!
We're number one!
We're number one!
We're number one!
We're number one!
We're number one!
We're number one!

Seeing a gazillion threads about not being the best has no logical relationship to your intelligence and military complexes...acknowledged everywhere as the best there is...making an error or choosing to let 9/11 happen.

But the "shut the fuck up" part is indicative of what's wrong not just with you but the USA generally, so thanks for being so illustrative for me.

Civil discourse. That's the ticket!

And you're indicative of the problem with Canada.

All you ever get out of the place is talk, talk, talk...

All the solutions to the world's problems, but you won't lift a fucking finger to do a thing about it. Hindsight is 20-20 from the fuckin' back seat, isn't it SpearChucker?

Them's fancy words to explain what you did, dude. But it's still so much easier just to say "hypocrite" though. *nods*

On a percapita to population basis, we have more troops in Afghanistan right now than you do.

We were in the first and second world wars getting slaughtered by the tens of thousands to fight a real tyranny (as opposed to supplying SUV's) while the USA stayed home.

We invented peacekeeping forces as an alternative to colonialization and invasion.

And we send more people per capita to university and far fewer to jail than you ever have or will.

And we have the oldest, best public health care system in the world.

So, yeah, we talk...and we can do it without resorting to childish name calling.

We've earned it.

You always have to throw in the "per capita basis" to apologize for your lack of effort...

Let's face it. You don't have the resources and you resent your impotency, so you feel justified in driving from the back seat.

Yes, Pookie, I'm a hypocrite when it comes to people who spew vile at me on a daily basis, but at least I haven't taken my ball to run home to mommy.

I'm not apologizing. Canada has always pulled its weight; suggesting we don't or haven't is simply incorrect on your part.

Getting back on point, I think bipartisanship in the USA serves no useful purpose when talking about an external threat such as 9/11...other than potentially to serve as a diversion away from the shortcomings of those you've entrusted with the responsibility of looking after your security.

Weldon has a screw loose. He has told several different stories.

In another thread, you said that Boortz, Hannity and Limbaugh were how people were getting their news, rather than Rather, Brokaw and Jennings. If that is the case, and there is one bit of truth to the pap that Weldon has been slinging, wouldn't they be all over it?

Well, the press had a weekend to put a 'spin' on this. As did the committee members. I suspect they never thought the members of the Able Danger group were going to come forward in open testimony.

So far, Weldon as been telling the truth. The NY Times is even running with this one now. Even State has jumped on the bandwagon.

But the most damning evidence is coming from memos written by the Federal Atty. for New York, Mary Jo White. Her memos to Gorelick concerning the disastrous 'Fire Wall' order read like Nostradamus in retrospect.
