He thought the plan was unethical, dangerous. "He argued that the withdrawal was a major policy failure from the highest levels of military leadership, calling out Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the joint chiefs of staff."

He knew his statement would amount to a de facto resignation of his commission. This was a good man who spent 17 years in the ground combat trade, selflessly exposing himself and his men to death and or great bodily harm national interest, accepting his casualties as the cost of duty to the country and the burden of his service. He is a commissioned officer, he has the right to tell his commanders they are derelict, incompetent, unamerican, or that they are failing in their leadership. He has the right to resign his commission. Note, he did not refuse an operational lawful order. This was a fed-up Lt. Colonel who put his oak leaves on the table to criticize incompetent leadership at the national level. God bless him. Who knows how many lives he might have just saved by going public.

Where was the concern for the chain of command when Lt. Col. Vindman stepped out of it to falsely accuse President Trump of illegality? Democrats jumped to the defense of Vindman when his was criticized, they maintained a military officer's honor and allegiance to the nation could not be questioned by mere citizens and politicians, and that as an officer he must be believed and supported. He was the hero of the left as long as he was going after Trump, but now woe to any Lt. Col. brave enough to stand up to a Democrat President and his officers. There's a lot of friggin' hypocrisy here.
