Think about your avatar

People please stay on topic. Those of us who are lurking/reading are confused by the side chatting. Thank you for your inattention to this matter. lol at me.

LL? I have no feelings one way or another towards you regarding a possible friendship. If you want an honest answer? I respect you less than I did. Why? If you read this thread from beginning to end? Some of what you have posted has been uncomplimentary comments wrapped up in clever words.
If my kids were doing what is going on here and I called them on it? They would say but so and so called me a name first. So? I would reply, ignore them. Or so and so doesn't agree with me. So? Get over it. It's not worth bickering about. Would be my response to my kids.

I still don't get why you have taken such an issue with Never's OPINION on the matter as quoted above.

But my opinion doesn't matter. If you feel what you are saying is what you need to do? Go right ahead.

Moses came down from Mt Sinai with (at least) Ten Commandments hand delivered from God Himself..............

Less than 50% were willing to accept that

Most had made idols etc to engage themselves otherwise.......

Debbie, I have given you many reasons to be my friend.
Feel free to be my enemy.

Be circumspect. Chose well and wisely.

I want your friendship.......

I’m very likable.
Actually, that’s not correct.

I’m enjoyable to know on a superficial level.

No comments on the av?? This is a thread about avs??? HELLO...

Illegal immigrants on my mother’s side, carpetbaggers on my father’s, and my stepfather is a descendent of the Medici family but grew up a Boston southie.

Oddly enough, I don’t use the term ‘we’ when talking about the Scottish, southerners, or people from Florence.

My father's side of the family is Mormon, from Utah. Since they keep such good records, I know that side is from England and Scotland - 3/4 English, 1/4 Scottish.

My mother's side is much murkier. They're from Southern Illinois and Tennessee, before that Germany and the Low Countries, as far as I can tell. My mother's side of the family has Southern accents -- at least that's what I've been told. (I don't really hear it - unless I try.) My family is half and half. Luckily, I escaped without one.

What happens if someone gets to know you on a deeper level?

I looked for the quote and could not find it...

You were right...I mis-used "disabused......"

But, it is not the opposite of abused as you stated.......

It (currently) means...... "to remove by argument of false ideas"

My usage was labled by Oxford as "arachaic"

You hardly know me. Nor I you. The only basis I have for forming my opinion of you is through reading your posts. In the past I have read your posts and thought? An interesting person with a fairly good outlook on life.

I don't believe in hate, nor being an enemy to anyone.

Be circumspect? The only potential consequence of choosing not to associate with you would be not interacting with you on the board. No nastiness or I don't like LL threads. I am not that sort of person.

You know what is bugging me at the moment?
This post and the way you word things.
I have not insulted you or acted in any way that could be considered hostile. Re reading my posts to you? I wonder why you felt it necessary to post what you have to me?

I focus on this: My family is been Catholic for 1500 years. Loyal supporters of the Holy Church........

One of my ancestors was asked in an ad hoc trial.."who is head of the Church??"

He answered, His Holiness, Pope Martin V

His head was cut off and hung on the gate of York (Michalbar Gate)...in High Street

Actually, you did insult us yesterday. WE chose to overlook it as "passion." Maybe we were wrong.... You are not like "the others."???

Scroll up to pp 13-16

We forgive you, thereby making that a futile exercise. When you said what you said, you were honest and open. We appreciate that

Now, let's all pretend to have a LIFE..so intrigued won't be cross

I have re read my posts to you again.
And still cannot find anywhere that I have even remotely insulted you. Perhaps this may have upset you?

"Name calling? LL I am surprised.
Insults wrapped up in clever words still mean the same thing."

I meant that, I was very surprised. By being honest and open and expressing my thoughts you feel I have insulted you?

Let me see.
You lie about people PMing you with threats of bodily harm.
You take up pretensions simply to annoy others.
You insult people you claim to call you friends.

Yet, you think it’s we who need to pretend to have a life?

Getting to know me can be a battle in itself and is often not worth the effort.

We have just wasted a significant portion of our life reading your inane, pompous and on one occasion threatening comments. We can only conclude that despite the refined and cultured image you are trying to impart by your use of a title and the avatar you chose that you are just another sad little self manipulator who can not cope with his own insecurities when someone disagrees with his opinion.

When it comes to choosing her friends my wife always chooses wisely and well! You can rest assured she would not choose a pompous little wanker like you.
Be circumspect. Chose well and wisely
for when you attack my wife you attack me and I can be a really nasty fucker when it comes to defending the ones I hold near and dear!

AGREE

There is a member her that would use flags in his avs. one day he put the confederate reble flag and he was called a racist.

What you use is not what you are.

;)

Hmmm, this thread has gotten heavy since the last time I looked in on it. Just earned my av so I came hear to show it off.

Now, I’d like to make it very clear that I’m not talking to any one poster, nor am I pretending to hand down commandments from the mountaintop. This is just my opinion:

If you plan to engage in serious discussion please be aware of your avatar’s ability undermine your credibility.

To go along with that; remember that your avatar both serves to identify you and to color your post. People will make unconscious assumptions about your attitude and personality based on everything from the subject matter of your avatar, to its style, to even the colors it uses.

While sexual imagery is expected, crude or highly explicit content can cause negative reactions. Just because you have sex with your genitalia doesn’t make genitalia sexy. Remember, the vast majority of content can be aesthetically pleasing and arousing, or ugly enough to make a viewer grimace.

If your avatar is a picture of a real person or a character, please be aware of associations people have with that person or character. A good example would be that of the gentleman who unknowingly used a gay porn star as his avatar and then became quite upset when men started hitting on him.

These are just a few of my thoughts on the subject of avatars. Feel free to disagree or offer your own. Or talk about what you think of avatars in general.

My avatar rarely catches any crap - nor do I, for that matter. I wonder why . . . .

<lightbulb going off>

I have met many (too many) of His Lordship's ilk before, and it can often be fun to poke their protruding pomposity with a stick and watch them make a complete ass out of themselves. Inevitably, though, the fun starts to wear thin when you come to the realization that they need absolutely no provocation to make a complete ass out of themselves. It's like taking candy from a baby.

"Feel free to be my enemy." Feh. He is the ultimate answer to Voltaire's one prayer.

I take great delight in checking my spelling, but never speak to the thread's topic. But to my own end.
I am oddly fixated on the fact that I have a prick and am one too, consumed 5 beers since 4 PM EDT and little sleep gives me reason for not much mental strength or clarity.

I refer you to the many answers previously made to this now tiresome querry. I think avatars do have any salient meaning. They are interesting and important when really attempting to get to know someone.

I was merely playing games.I have an actual interest in anal avs. I have only stated my position 100 times. It is 69.

I just typed a long commentary on Mr Iain Duncan-Smith in another thread...It was quite insightful, I must say. Do you know Mr Duncan-Smith?? I can also blow myself.
