There's a bald eagle in the tree outside my window.

Not a condor, admittedly, but a magnificent creature just the same.

Is there a conservatory by you? Wouldn't it be delightful if you were partly responsible for helping their population?

I usually see them on my way to work down by the lakeshore. However, I saw one a couple of miles from home the other day that was probably the biggest bird I've ever seen in my life. I actually pulled over and watched it for awhile. We don't usually get them this far inland, mostly Turkey Vultures and the ocassional Marsh Hawk in the fields around here.

Don't get caught trying to apply minoxydyl!

Either by the bird or the EPA!!

...Been a few years, but I use to fish, on local lakes, and got to seein' several eagles. Maybe its the fact they are so few, American symbol, or whatever, but the site never failed to stop me for a long look, they are so majestic. The sight of one is always an awesome experience...

yes bald eagles are the most amazing birds
When I was in yellowstone this summer there was a bald eagle nest right within 25 yards of one of the roads. It was the road in from West Yellowstone next to the river. It was an amazing site that is for sure.

I used to see two occassionally driving to work when I was living in south western New York. They had a nest atop one of the light poles by the highway. Amazing creatures of grace.

They are neat to watch as they hunt from above the clouds, diving down toward prey!

The only strange thing about them as far as I can see is their insipid cry.

A bird that beautiful should really have a more impressive call.

BTW he stayed there for about an hour, preening and sunning himself. I am assuming it was a "he".
