My friend asked how I felt about her husband watching The Wire with their female 18 year old boarder while the wifes been out of town for several days. The wife thinks it's a little creepy. I've never seen the show so I can't offer an opinion. Thoughts?

The only thing I know about The Wire is a reference made to it on Tim Allen's Last Man Standing.

I gather it has something to do with black people.

There is some nudity and sex in it, but it is spaced out between the episodes. Later in the seasons there is a scene of one of the main male characters walking around naked in his apartment, which is the most lengthy full frontal scene in the show. Outside of this you get some tits, asses, and glimpses of genitalia.

See, the dark subject matter, violence, bleak atmosphere and some vile characters make for quite the enthralling watching experience. In other words, the wife needs to stop being stupid. If those two are doing anything naughty I guarantee The Wire was not the reason... or it was, if they found it boring and decided smashing is a better use of their time.

The show is top tier though.

Thanks for the advice except the racist af post by johndude. I figured if anyone could help her it'd be the Lit crowd. All I know is it's some crime drama. I'll pass along the 'it's all good message'.
Now I'm going to have to watch it!

Creepy is if they were watching Mary Poppins together.

Most 18 year olds don’t dig 50 yo men.
You need to stop triggering shortstuff there. :ROFLMAO:

It's a great show and nothing creepy about it. Sounds like the wife might have other issues with them.
Well spotted. 👍🏾
I told her not to worry but as it turns out his gf before he married her was 22 years younger than him. Self esteem and insecurity issues are dogging her.

But some do. Quite a few. God Bless America.

American Culture is built on mature dudes banging nubiles.

Q: How stupid is the wife to have an 18 year old boarder in her house if she travels?
Typically, no they don’t. It just proves that you do not know about 18 year old girls. So, check that off in your creepy fantasy brain.

Unless the dude is trying to bang the 18 year old then no, there's nothing creepy about it.

The show is excellent and although there are some sex/nude scenes it's no where near as much a Game of Thrones had. It's a gritty real-life drama that shows you the dirty underpinnings and corruption of a city from junkies, to dealers, to the police to the justice system and the elected government.

On that note I will just quote my favorite line from the entirety of the show:
"I'm just a humble motherfucker with a big ass dick."

I don't know much about The Wire, but why would watching a TV show together be creepy?

She's a university student, friend of the family.

Not sure, haven't seen it. It's going on my list after Young Doctor's Notebook.
From the posts I gather there's a lot of sex and violence. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I told her to chill, most 18 year olds aren't attracted to balding men with pot bellies. She admitted it's probably her own insecurities as an aging woman. I also said if I didn't have a partner I'd be all over her. Cheered her up a bit.

I think The Wire is the most powerful TV series I've ever seen. More people should be watching it with them.
