The video game thread

Wow...I'm so proud of my thread when it grows.:) How's it going everyone? Yes, it is a crime not to have played metal gear solid. Yes, I can't wait for soul calibur 2.:D

Yeah? What's the punishment?

Sorry, the game, albeit neat, doesn't appeal to me. Just like the Metroid series (and not just Prime. Good sci-fi fun and environments. But other than using the Justin Bailey code to go after Mother Brain, I have no use for them). Just one of them things, I guess.

I need (more) money. Then I can get me a GC. Finally join the current gen (still getting plenty of kicks from the previous generations).

Maybe she's talking about Final Fantasy X-2.

The real sequel to FF X.

Or maybe she means the new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Cube, or Final Fantasy Tactics for the GBA?

Also there is official news about Final Fantasy 12 out there too.

I know everything three is to know about any and ever FF game, even the FF subgames.

ff x-2 is not really a sequil eather. if it were a computer game, i'd call it an expantion.

but I still say FF xi isn't ff

WARNING: Rant ahead

It's shaping up to be the bastard child of the FF family. Like Mystic Quest. You need the broadband connection with service and Square fees just to play it. I don't give a damn to race my chocobo against some other schmuck for some paltry 'gil' (I still prefer Gold, damnit!).

Just like Mystic Quest being a 'dumbed down' FF for American audiences to ween them into the RPG genre. No thanks.

With X-2 being FFX: new and improved, I renew my stubborn stance on where Square has it's goals set. $$$ But I'll be damned if they don't make it look good. Though, if you can't actually fly the airship, then what's the point?

It's been a while since I posted so I thought I'd give a few thoughts:

- Enter The Matrix is a good game.. I enjoyed it. Much to short though! Thanfully the multiplayer feature that can be unlocked makes for some awesome extra gameplay! The hacking feature is also very cool.

- I can't beat god damn mother fucking Mark Calcahvehica(sp?) on Tiger Woods golf! I've played 5 rounds against him and the results have been as varied as being blown out to losing in playoff holes. I just can't fuckin beat the fucker!! (YES I am fustrated!!)

- I don't know what the other ball games are like, but I am pretty happy with MVP Baseball. Got a nice 22 and 6 record with my Blue Jays... made a few trades to get Jose Cruz Jr and Shawn Green back in the Jays fold. :)

Gee, isn't this the goal of ALL game companies? Or maybe Square is still trying to pull themselves out of the giant money pit that FF : The Spirits Within put them in?

I can't stand the FF games anymore. They are more and more linear and besides a somewhat intersting plot you have no real control over what to do anymore. Point A to Point B..fight some invisible creatures...Point B to Point C....repeat. I've pretty much given up on console rpgs and just play the ones on the PC that have some real depth to them. The only rpg on the console that intrigues me is Knights of the Old Republic because Bio-Ware (Baldurs Gate series) is making it.

Man...I don't even have time to post here right now. I'll have to check it out later. I'm on my way back to work after getting a paltry nine hours off. Pity me everyone, pity me.

Oooo, just found out my mall's arcade has 6 lan/internet computers with T1 connections. So I was playing Battlefield 1942, Counter Strike, both Medal of Honor's, and Unreal 2003. And the best part is..

$1 = 15 min...woot!

And a bump for Mia.

Sweet deal Rom. I know that the arcade/putt putt golf place around here has a LAN room, but I don't think it's open to the public...or something. I've never seen the door open and a welcome mat in place.
I can't wait for Knights of the Old Republic to come out...other than Soul Calibur 2, it's the only game I'm really looking forward to in the near future.

Oh yeah...I'm also looking into getting a new computer soon, and all the major companies don't like my credit. So I guess I'm looking to either build my own or go to a place that does that kind of thing. I'm hoping not to spend too much over $500, since it's all going to be cash out of my pocket.

I was big time disapointed in The Sims for Xbox.. I didn't give it much of a chance mind you and played it for maybe 10 or 15 hours or so before giving up.. But I found it to be a very lame version of what can be done on a computer.

Brute Force is another let down... All it turned out to be was a shoot-em-up game that has been done over and over again.

Can't wait to get my hands on Outlaw Volleyball :D

I vote Enter the Matrix as the best movie to video game translation. It's a pretty sucky genre.

I'd say the same, although the thing is calling EtM the best movie to game translation isn't saying a whole hell of alot really.

I really enjoyed EtM, but found it was maybe a little too short. Thankfully there is a way to "hack" into the game and unlock a multiplayer mode which really adds a kick ass feature to the game.

Well I don't know about online.. Or if it is a feature on the PC version.

I just know on the Xbox and PS2 versions you can use the hack feature to unlock the mode, but it's not plyable online.

I'm waiting for Outlaw Volleyball as well. I rented DOA Xtreme, for the volleyball, mind you, and it was alright. Not enough volleyball and too much Barbie's Spring Break for me. Enter the Matrix is alright...I mean, it's good, just not great.

Aliens vs Predator was great, but it didn't really scare the bejeezus out of me like I'd hoped it would.

The Thing, on the other hand, did.

Has anyone played that game?
