The video game thread

Why trade it in? For $180 I would think it'd be worth it to just buy a PS2 and get the best of both worlds.

BTW Tiger Woods golf is bad ass.. I've never liked golf games until now.

Because I don't got the money for it, otherwise I would.

Did you think to try pawn shops as well? I'm not sure what it's like down there, but where I live there is a kick ass store called "Replays" and amoung the stuff they carry, they sometimes have a PS2 and/or XBox system along with games for both. All at very good rates.

That Tiger Woods golf was a game I got for 20 bucks CDN.. I picked up Shenume for 25...

I've never ever been in a pawn shop. Hell I don't know of any in the city. Maybe I should look...

Romial ~ Wait til after E3 ... Big rumor ...
X-Box & PS2 going down to $149.99 ... Okies, it might not be a big rumor ... :D ... But fact ...

SB ~ The company that is selling "Enter the Matrix" could possibly get sued by WB ... For breaking street date of May 15th ...

All the boxes that were sent to my store had a big stick wrapped around the box saying not to selll before the street date ...

PS2 version of Splinter Cell = Total Bliss

I haven't played the X-Box version of SC yet, so I can't really compare, but the ps2 version is oh so blissful

all i gotta say is this i'm single for a while LOL innocent just got the matrix:reloaded game for PS2 tonight, she is gonna bebusy for a while :D

I got my Xbox Magazine today.. Halo 2 looks so damn sweet!

And there was news on a 'jukebox' music periphial coming out.. with the chance that the Xbox can be connected to a PS and mp3's can be transfered over!

Picked up "The Sims" for Xbox today.. Will be getting "Enter The Matrix" tommorow.

The Sims is pretty cool actually.. I can see myself playing it when I have lots of time to kill.

I have the original sims for the pc...none of the expansions tho. It's ok I guess. Not my kind of thing tho.

i like the sims have all of them but vacation, unleashes and the upcomming superstar, but i dont really like it for console

Hey everyone.

Arc: I realize they could get in trouble, but I had nothing to do with it. Therefore, I got a two day early copy of the game and they're stuck with the fine, if they get one. Works out for me.:D

The sims are alright...not really my deal though, I don't have that kind of patience for people who crap their own pants if you don't put them in front of the toilet.:p

And...I think that might be all for me until Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comes out.

Oh wait...Enter the Matrix is f'in amazing...now if I just had any idea how to use DOS....as in Microsoft DOS. I'm clueless.:(

Man, as much as I wanted Enter the Matrix to be the first really good movie franchise based game. I must say I was disappointed again.

The hand-to-hand combat portions are indeed very fun. But overall the game feels very dated. Especially the driving/shooting while driving portions. Even the variety of hand-to-hand moves gets repetitive eventually.

Controls are clunky and the game doesn't respond to them very fluidly.

The 'destructible environments' are nothing more than a few crates you can kick around and scripted slabs that fall off of columns when shot. Objects and bodies aren't persistant, they just disappear when they hit the ground.

You can't wander anywhere off the linear path and the graphics are chunky.

Having said all that I haven't given up on the game yet. The hacking option opens up a multiplayer fighting part that is quite fun, though you can't use focus there. And there is quite a bit of the matrix story that is unraveled as you progress.

I'm sure it's entertaining enough for the avid matrix fan. Just don't let the hype over the game get your hopes up too high like mine must've been.

Xbox but I've seen similar complaints for each system.

The gameplay really isn't that difficult at all on the medium setting. But there are a few places where you have an objective that isn't very clear at all. Which makes it just difficult due to a lack of information, not any real challenge to gameplay skills.

I violated 2 principles getting this game. It's a movie franchise and it's a multi-platform....neither have a very good track record.

Movie platforms I agree with, but multi platform is getting pretty good. Except when the box and cube versions look like the ps2.

Yep, multi platforms are generally going to be programmed for the lowest common denominator.

In the matrix game's case it seems that they settled on the playstation 1 hardware as the lowest common denominator at some points.

I've never been one to emphasize graphics over gameplay, but it seems more went into marketing, and the movie footage for this game than the game itself.

Yeah, if they all come out at the same time, they're worse. Then there's ones like Splinter Cell. The sports games are pretty decent though.

And I just HATE how many ps2 games look like ps1 games.

So I rented Dynasty Warriors 3 for the xbox finally and it's a fun game. Beat it with one of the chars and got him up to Max General or something goofy like that. But talk about LONG and repeatitive.

And the theme song that you see on the commercials for Midnight Club 2 is such a good techno song.

Oh yeah,

Played "Kung-Fu Chaos" over the weekend. Kicks ass everyone - a drunken rental party game if I ever saw one.

Beat "Sword of the Beserk" tonight. Very strange game. I liked it. :) Now I gotta unlock all the goodies. :)

Picked up Guilty Gear X and have Feet of Fury on the way. :) Horray! Im a nerd!!!

Playing enter the matrix PS2

DJV sucked royally, but your gonna love the matrix, its got its killler hard spots but its good

I think I'm the only one who isn't interested in Enter the Matrix. All the hype just turns me off to it. Games made from movies never work, it's a documented fact proven time and time again.

The Matrix may be hot now, but give it a few months and all these Matrix games will be going for 9$ in the bargain bin.

I finished XenoSaga recently...would have finished much sooner, but I needed to take a break every few days because of the annoying characters.

Currently, I'm getting ready to buy that GameBoy Player that allows you to play GBA games on the tv without taking apart the GBA. Game wise, I'm waiting for Soul Calibur 2 and Disgaea.

PLEASE don't tell me XenoSaga sucks!! I want to play that SO bad!!

I'm not all that excited about Enter The Matrix either. I agree, right now it's all the rage. But wasn't that the case for anything X-Men related when that was hitting theatres? And now do you hear people flipping out about X-Men or Wolverine? No. Not likely.

Flawed Ethics...thanks for giving Kung-Fu Chaos a good review, I still want to play that. I've just been too lazy lately to rent or buy anything. :D
