awwww, c'mon, Contra isnt getting any lovin?:(

Hey, I thought Contra kicked ass also. I like games that aren't overly simple, and well, Contra was anything but that. LOL

I liked the Castlevania series also.

off to class ya'll...keep the thread warm for me until i get back home around 9. :D

*places a hot water bottle on the thread, then sits down to play some Unirally (anyone remember that? :))

GameCube

Man I'm so hooked on Animal Crossing. My Boyfriend, my roomate and his son and I all play. That game is such greatness!
I've even converted some of my friends.

Talking about old games....anyone remember Speedball 2? I wasted so many hours on my school computer playing that game...

Not to mention the fact that of the 50 or so football games my friend has played, he has had at least 30 of those games go unfinished because people quit the game, rather than lose the game. Some fun huh?

That's why I try to meet up with these people on the net.. as I play guys I find I ask them for yahoo ID's or e-mails or message boards they check out..

I enjoy playing Xbox Live, although as mentioned before, there are some serious bugs in the system now.. But that's why we're beta testers.. we're supposed to find them and report them.

I won't pass judgment on XBL until after Nov 15th .. before then it is what it is.. a beta - not yet ready - version.

Very good idea. But you know what I was talking about with people dropping games instead of losing, right? I played 5 games at my friend's house, and I had 1 person drop the game when they were losing. I lost 2 of the other games and didn't really care.

Oh yeah I hear what your saying!

One of the features many of us Beta testers have been asking for is that disconnections result in a lost game period. It may not be fair to those who honestly get disconnected, but I mean really if you are on cable and even have a decent connection, you aren't going to be booted very often if at all.

I've had a few quit on me, but in the 20 or so games I've played I'm fortunate.. I've met some cool guys and had some really awesome games! (Two that sticks put was where I won by throwing a hail mary 70 yard TD on the last play of the game, then the very next game against the same guy, he won on a 48 yard field goal in the last play.. )

On the subject of the disconnect = a loss...

Anyone here ever play WWF With Authority (now WWE With Authority, I'll just call it WA)? There was a major argument about people disconnecting to avoid a loss on there, now while the tournaments had the "you disconnect, you lose" ruling, the game itself never implimented that because of people on bad connections...

Now I'm on a 56k connection, and I got disconnected once every 2 hours. Fair enough, but occasionally I forgot, the first thing I did when I got back was go into a game with my opponent, and immediatly concede, it was only fair, I should have been more careful.

Now as far as I'm concerned, if you KNOW your connection craps out on you, you shouldn't be playing, if you know there's a time limit on how long you can play, you either keep an eye on the time, or don't play.

The whole connection thing shouldn't be a problem... unfortunatly the games companies are just thinking that it gets more people to play the game... they forget about those who want to play the game, and not have to deal with the thousands of idiots on there too.

My computer tends to disconnect every 4 hours. It gets REAL annoying. That's why I don't play online games. Though I'd love to. There are a few I like.

There's a few games that can easily be played with a 4 hour disconnect, most online card games (each game lasts like 10 - 30 minutes on average... unless someone gets a damned lucky (or cheesy) draw and flattens you in 7 turns (damn those people, damn them to hell ;)))

Ultima Online is an easy one to go for, if you have a good internet connection, most online shooters can be played as most games tend to last about 30 minutes max, if you're good you can fit in a game of any Command & Conquer game in 4 hours (I tried doing that in the 2 hours I had.. but that only ever worked when I lost, ho hum).

I mean, with a 4 hours connection, most games would probably be fine, but my advice would still be to look at things like Ultima Online or card games online for that kind of stuff.

But for some fun games online, go here - http://jippii.com/games/ I'm a fan of the single player mini golf to be honest :).

Jeez

I go to work, I come home, I get online, my power goes out for an hour, and my thread is on page two. Come on guys! Page one is the place to be don'tcha know.
Just to catch up a bit, Zelda rocks, I loved Ocarina of Time...Majora's Mask wasn't nearly as good. FPS's are great, but I have trouble playing most PC converted ones, as I've never played one on my PC and that's how the control schemes were designed.
Anyone want to debate all the problems of the new Turok game?

I'm sorry, but I cannot give in to your blunt demands....because I've never played that game.

It's for PC right?
My PC sucks ass...I can't play anything on it. Heck...I think Pong would be a stretch.

I've wanted to play the new Turok for a while...i had the second one for N64, and found it damn near impossible to beat. everything was just so fuckin hard in that game. the new one looks good, but if it has problems....SpaceBoy, brotha, fill me in, wont ya?
