The video game thread

I've got the SNES verson of KI on my laptop. I started playing it again and quickly re-discovered the nasty 40-hit ending combo I can do with Orchid. But Spinal is my fav char from that game.

That was the second game I bought for the snes, which I still have btw.

Neverwinter Nights didnt catch my interest,I just couldnt get into it,and that goes for The Thing, too.

I need to uninstall them, they take up alot of space.

I've always been a big gamer. I have a x-box,ps2,gamecube and a dreamcast to name a few. I buy three to four games a month so I not going to list them. It would take to long anyway.

Then what are some of your favs?

Right now I have:

Asheron's Call
Asheron's Call 2
Neocron Beta
Battlefield 1942(great game btw) all installed on my comp.

I also have Dungeon Siege, anarchy online and Dark age of Camelot that aren't installed at this time.

Now you know I'm an MMORPG game freak...hehe.

For now It's Socom but I will always love all the resident evils.
Thats why I got a gamecube.

I saw that UT 2003 was coming out - I gotta check that out sometime soon.

If you have UT, then UT2k3 won't be much of a difference for you. UT2k3 has the same maps and same gameplay as UT...the only thing that has changed are the graphics and sound. Save your money and buy No One Lives Forever 2 instead. In NOLF2, you can play in Co-Op mode. One person is Kate Archer, and the other is a second agent. You can play through the entire game together with another person. NOLF2 is the best FPS to come out since....well, since the original NOLF.

If your system can run the game smoothly, you may want to check out Battlefield1942. BF1942 has some of the most intense team-based gameplay since Tribes 2. The maps are very well done, the graphics are very nice (not great), and the game has a great overall feel to it. It has a very nice Team Fortress feel.

As to "abandonware" sites....check out: http://www.the-underdogs.org/news.php Underdogs is the best abandonware site on the internet...hands down.

For emulation, check out: http://www.digitpress.com/index2.htm DigitalPress is the best emulation and classic video game site on the internet. Joe Santulli runs a good ship, and is one of the hosts of the Classic Gaming Expo every year that is held in Las Vegas. Tell him that Bob_Bytchin sent you. I guarantee he'll welcome you. :)

heh.. the only online computer game I play is the Magic: The Gathering version of "apprentice" which will work on a 486 so it's by no means a flashy looking game, but yet can be o so fun

i disagree with bob ... UT2003 is cool and much better then the first UT in my opinion :)

a cool looking starwars mod

I didn't say it was a bad game :)....I just said that it was just a somewhat updated version of the original UT. :)

On the topic of that Star Wars mod....it may be promising right now, but once Lucas sees it coming along, they will squash it like a bug. Everytime someone tries to mod something "Star Wars", Lucas steps in and throws his $$$ around. Sad fact.

apparently they've already dealt with that ... lucas threated to sue them and they said go ahead and try and lucas backed down

i guess time will tell but it looks good ... has all the starwars vehicles also

i think UT2003 will become the most modded game since half life

I just love zombies. Any game with Zombie's in it is a fav of mine, which makes Resident Evil, all the one's i've played, awesome.

I would love to see that mod actually come out. :)

UT2k3 does have good modding possibilities...but just two words:

Doom3 :)

i dont think doom 3 will have so many modding possibilities with the way they are making it ... a lot of the levels have to be made in 3d modeling programs

and the multiplayer is only going to be a max of 4 player if they do have multiplayer that is

its going to be an amazing game though

have you seen the doom III gameplay.avi ? :)

Back on the KI subject... I was a big fan, me and my mate went through the game and found the Ultra's, fatalities etc. for every character, and even the best combo's for each one :).

So speaking of games, anyone do the Sims?

I got all of the expansion packs and I get to play the online version before anyone else..heh... ;)

But I cannot get a baby to stay with my people.

That nasty welfare woman keeps taking them away.

I got this cool add in to make the kids grow up to adulthood, but since I cant keep a kid,I have not gotten to use it.

I even had one parent stay with the kid at all times, yet there is always a time I dont get to the baby in time. Sigh...its depressing sometimes.

I bought The Sims on the day it came out...had fun with it for a while. Eventually, I found myself making lesbian serial killers all the time. :)

My wife used to be addicted to the game though. She would play it for hours on end.

I've seen the Doom3 AVI where John Carmack talks about the game, and how it's going to be a quantum leap in FPS's. He also mentions how the modding communities are going to have a lot to work with when Doom3 comes out. I guess that could mean a lot of things...that's all he said.
