The video game thread

I have been addicted to Final Fantasy Revenant Wings. I didnt think I would like it, but it rocks.

Best DS game I have played this year.

It's so awesome when I play Search and Destroy, and I hear: "You're the last one! Finish the mission, Comrade!"

I cannot get enough of the gaming classics such as Frogger, Pac-Man and he 8-bit Nintendo titles. The Legend of Zelda provided hours of fun and is nostalgic to go back to it every now and again.

I finally gave in and bought DMC4 a few days ago. I can't really say I regret it. The game looks pretty fucking nice, the fighting dynamics are quite fun, and the game play is rather enjoyable.

But how was the 21 minute install time? I heard the load times still weren't that much faster than the 360 version, which is playable like a normal game. You know, right off the disc. I enjoyed some of the first Far Cry, the traps were what made it different. That and the complete level editor.

I want a DS. Bad.

The only thing better is sneaking up and getting three knife kills on the rest of the enemy team after hearing it. :D
What do you guys think about Army of Two that is coming out next month?

I have a good friend in England that I play games with, and if it's any good it'll likely be the next thing we get to play co-op in together. If not, we're looking forward to the next Mercenaries. Crackdown might've had the Halo 3 beta on it, but we played the shit out of it just because it was great fun in online co-op.

So I've played the shit out of Burnout. I've finished everything offline except the time road rules and the crash road rules. Found everything, have all but two cars unlocked. I'm thinking it's almost time to take it online and have some fun in that arena now.
Also, I played through the trial of N+. It's fun and all, but I don't know that it's fun enough to warrant buying.
I think that's all for now.

I didn't time it, but I think it took less than 20 minutes to install. And from what I've read the load times for the PS3 version are a second or two faster than 360's.

I don't play much, don't have time for it, and I have a shitload of games to play. I think I have around 20 cars now, and a few wins away from the class A license. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of playing it, though.

See, but that's what I mean. It's just a second or two, what's the big deal?

As an aside, I think Microsoft needs to work harder on getting the 360 into more homes in other countries if they want to keep the console war going strong. The PS3 is picking up steam here in the US, as well as in many European countries. Japan still couldn't care less about an American console.

I really don't see a big deal. Actually, the long install at the beginning didn't bother me, either. I've waited to install PC games before.

Have you played any PS3 exclusives? I think that's the best way to tell how better the PS3 is. And most of them are the first game these people have developed for PS3, all they're saying now is that they've learned a lot during the process, so one can only imagine how the future games are gonna turn out.

Hell, even the CoD4 developers say the PS3 version of the game looks better than the 360 one.

I honestly don't think there's any way for MS to win this battle.

Ah, but MS is currently winning here in the US. And most of it they didn't even do themselves. Sony's marketing has been completely assinine. Between their CEO's behaviors and their confusing pricing/model scales, it's been a wonder they've sold any systems. It really doesn't help that so many developers have been having a hard time getting the Unreal engine to work right on the PS3 either. I definitely don't think that the 360 will win any wars this year, but it's making headway, even moreso than the original Xbox did.
The funniest thing though? Nintendo is kicking both their asses.

Hhhhmmm... I don't know. The main reason Blu-ray won the format war, aside from the backing up of the major film studios, was the sales of PS3. I don't really see how the pricing and models are confusing. They've been releasing different models which mainly differ only on the hard disk space for different prices.

The Unreal engine's working fine in UTIII. I know it's also used in a couple other games, but the names escape me.

Developing for PS3 is not an easy task, but it's been shown that it's not impossible to do. If some companies are too lazy to learn and do it, too bad.

And actually, Nintendo was slightly ahead of PS3 in the last report that was released.
