The video game thread

My ex girlfriend used to tell me it was like cocaine - "Only the first hit is free." But I suppose it's really free if you don't mind having a crappy looking avatar. My avatar is really cute! I have this cute silver hair and an awesome wardrobe. My weapon is a ball on a stick that you dangle at enemies and a little cat that follows me around will chase the ball and end up scratching the enemies! :D

WoW gamer? I thought so...that game is sooo addictive, I watched a friend cook his marriage down to nothing (read that as divorce) and he still plays the damned game. I played it for about 30 days (long enough for the free trial to expire) and I must say that the pacing in the game is just right to keep you going.

I used to play Tribes allot back in the day...

Man, I hate how most people don't do takedowns by racing along side you in Paradise online. I'm sick and tired of getting taken down while I try to change direction or when I've fully stopped. Quite lame.

This game's going to be so fucking sick. It looks even better than the first one.

I played some of the first one. This one looks to focus less on the suspense and more on the blood and gore...and that never works to make something better.
I am greatly anticipating the new smash brothers game

I've never been a big fan. When the one for gamecube came out, I picked it up based on hype...maybe you just need to have three friends over and be drunk off your ass to really enjoy it. I prefer my fighting games much more technical I guess- I just got bored after a while.

assasin's creed.....hands down best game of the year. but you have to play it in HD to truly appreciate the insane detail they put into it. i don't know how this game is on ps3 since i no longer own one, but on the xbox 360 it blows my mind. the only thing that kind of sucks is the somewhat repetitive investigations you have to do, but they all have their subtle differences so it isn't too hard to deal with. the story is really good, and the game play flows like writing. plus theres a bunch of side quests and whatnot you can do if you get stuck on the main storyline. just my opinion, but i highly recommend this game to anyone who hasn't at least tried it out yet.

I'd also like to thank pOAg for putting a much needed shot of lesbians into this thread.

my favorite game ever ever ever is KOTOR 2. they damn well better make another one. I've heard they are, but I heard that at least two years ago.

other than that, I have a GameCube so I'm just on that Mario Party tip.

Really? I liked the first one better.
I heard a rumor that they might be making a Star Wars MMO for consoles instead...I'm apprehensive at best.

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't care for online stuff. I wanna play my shit by my self, leave me alone. that being said, I play Phantasy Star Online... I just don't actually play online.

I played the second one first like an idiot. that's probably why I like it better. it was the first RPG I actually played and finished.

I'm more into kiddie games. thus why I have a GameCube and a DS. if I ever got any money, I'd be all over a Wii. plus, boyfriend has a 360 and a PS2 so I can just use his if anything ever comes up for those systems that I want to play.

aside from that, the only other things I care for are fighting games. DOA, Soul Calibur, VirtuaFighter.

I lied. right before KOTOR is Puzzle Fighter. love it.

ok, done rambling.

I like playing online occasionally, when no one's annoying. So that'd be very occasionally I guess. I do like all those fighting games as well, but it's sometimes hard to find someone to play them with...but if your bf has Puzzle Fighter, we should play sometime. You could totally kick my ass, I suck at it.

Well, I've played the first one at least half a dozen times, it's still pretty gory. I can't comment about the amount of suspense in this one till I play it, but if it has as much suspense as the first one, I'll be happy.

And I disagree. Blood and gore always make games better. Violent games are my vice :D Well, one of many.

Any new game that's been developed for next generation gaming looks MUCH better on an HD display, it's not just that one game. And it runs quite flawlessly on PS3.

I agree that it's a damn fine game.

They're two very different games, and highlight the difference in Obsidian's and Bioware's design philosophy.

I think they're both excellent games, but Obsidian dropped the ball on KotOR II. They released an unfinished product, which is the feeling I get with all their games. They're currently working on an RPG based on Aliens. Given their proclivity for darker universes, I can see this as being the perfect vehicle for them.

KotOR III is not in production.

I picked up Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory the other night. I stumbled onto Splinter Cell only last year and love it for much the reason I love the Thief series. I wish there were more games that focused on stealth gameplay, as opposed to just mowing everything down.

Agreed.
I'd like to see the product(KotOR II) after the users are done finishing it.

I enjoyed Chaos Theory, most of it at least.
I heard bad things about the latest one, Double Agent?
Such as the multi-play being watered down...that's something I would've liked to get more into in Chaos Theory, but didn't have Live at the time. I played some system-link though, and it was wonderous.

I played assassins creed at a friends house. I really enjoyed all the free roaming and stuff but the game itself didn't please me much.
