The Ronald Reagan America Does Not Want To See

And here's me thinking he got away with it because team USofA had better things to do. Like killing children in Iraq.

Could be a problem there. We'll see how it pans out.
Of course, if you really dig the death toll of women and children, the "insurgents" win hands down.

Bin Laden only "got away with it" because he went into hiding.

Let Bin Laden show his face anywhere near an American soldier, or cop, or fireman, or ordinary citizen...

is this the same bin laden?

Soon after 9/11, Bush issued a terse, cowboy-like "dead or alive" command to get bin Laden. By mid-January 2002, the cowboy had changed his mind.

"Osama bin Laden is not my focus," Bush told NBC in an interview.

Several months afterward, Bush had this to say about bin Laden: "I don't know where he is, and I truly am not that concerned about him."

bizzare.

Bush bashing? There's plenty of other threads for that. This is the thread where we remember what a senile tool Reagan was.

What did Ronald Reagan have that Bill Clinton didn't have?

An ex-wife.

And we all know how Clinton feels about sexual harassment.

I sometimes think of what a dilemma it would be to have him in my sights. On the one hand, here's a chance to be The Guy Who Killed Bin Laden. On the other hand, do I really want to deal with the black-helicopter fallout for getting in the way of Bush's plot to seize power by having a straw man out there somewhere?

bizzare.

Couple days ago in that press conference with your boy Tony, he said he regretted saying the dead or alive thing.

So, Mister Ed, why is it wrong for me to still be upset over things Reagan did so long ago, but it's fine for you to still be kissing his ass?

You mentioned that you admired Reagan's integrity. Let's look at that, shall we?

He belonged to a union when it was to his personal benefit, then spent the rest of his political career busting unions.

Life-long Democrat, until a group of Republican businessmen offered to fund his run for Governor. Then he switched parties.

He talked constantly about family values, after he divorced his first wife and later married a starlet know for "giving the best head in Hollywood." During that first marriage, he dumped his kids into boarding schools. He ignored the children of his first marriage to the point that his daughter Patti didn't even know she had a sister until she was seven.

He vowed he would "never yield to terrorist blackmail", then sold arms to terrorists who held Americans hostage.

In November 1986, he publicly denied that his administration had been illegally selling arms to Iran and using the proceeds to fund the contras. One week later he was forced to retract this statement, but denied that the sale was part of a deal to free U.S. hostages. The following year, Reagan admitted that there had been an arms-for-hostages deal, but denied he knew anything about it.

Claimed he had been in Germany filming the liberation of death camps, when in truth he never left Hollywood.

Hypocrite. Liar. Backstabber. Is that what you call integrity, Mister Ed?
No. I'm not gonna deny you the right to be upset. And there are a lot of things we disagree upon. Like its been stated on this thread, my admiration for him clouds my judgement and Its' rare for me to admire someone so much. The Presidency is a huge job I would never want to tackle in spite of my loyalties (But I would 'step up to the plate' if I had to. Even if I did a piss poor job, I'd give it my best shot.)
Often things occur within a Presidency the PRESIDENT may not even be aware of, yet he is responsible for those actions. And, admittedly, his senility got in his own way.

No, Mutt, I won't deny you that. I actually agree w/you on some things. But I am too stubborn of a horses' ass to admit to it. I'm human that way.

thats the effect bliar has on people.

Saying faux-cutesy things like "bliar" doesn't contribute to rational discourse.

And it is moronic to suggest that the main goal of the U.S. in Iraq was to kill children.

would you prefer killing Iraqis before they reach breeding age?

this may come as a shock to you.....

i have misgivings towards the concept corporate America projects across the world, i have no problem with most americans, they are just humans trying to do the human thing. Survive and get by. corporate america has no god given right though to starve people to death or bomb them back into the stone age .

Bliar is a corrupt bastard, a kind of maggie thatcher tribute act, wrapping himself for a short time, in a red flag to appeal to the left wing vote.

Galloway in one of his last coherent speeches touched on that.

I didn't say it was the main goal, the main goal was to get the oil. The dead babies thing is more of a side benefit.

Tony "Thatcher" Blair is a lying cock sucking piece of Tory shit that destroyed everything the Labour Party ever stood for and got us into a war that the vast majority of people in the UK wanted fuck all to do with.

He makes them admit publicly that they said stupid things? Can we borrow him for a few years? We need a lot of that over here, at every level of politics and all along the political spectrum from Abby Hoffman to David Duke.

Well. I agree w/you on the corporate America thing. But please don't come across as judging all Americans because of a select group. And, honestly, I know little about Blair's past. Can't pass judgement on him. I guess I'm just gratefull he stood in harm's way to align England w/U.S. in the Middle East and terrorism. Even if I don't agree w/U.S. mixed intentions and don't want to be there.

As far as most people are concerned, you can keep the cunt. And that's the opinion of most of his own party, as well.

HaHa! Sometimes you crack me up w/your cutting outbursts of emotions. I'm guilty of a lot of that myself this days. I chalk it up to being passionate about our beliefs in certain thing. And many of us feel the same way about Abbey Hoffman and David Duke. Though, I'm sure, just as many would disagree w/me on this. :D

On another tangent, Nancy was well known in Hollywood for sucking a mean dick.

SeanH, I think I see your take on this. And I feel for you. I can't speak for everyone, but I often have equal resent meant towards my own President. And I try very hard not to be negative about him when faced w/persons from other countries. I guess its ONLY because I have respect for his office, presides over my country (did not vote for him either time), and I just can't bring myself to ridicule him except in tight circles.

[off topic] Speaking of Abby Hoffman reminds me of the time, as an undergrad, I was present at a "debate" between Abby Hoffman and G. Gordon Liddy. It was low-brow comic theater at its best. :D [/off topic]

That's interesting. The guy who posts here as "atmas" saw him debate someone once, too. It wasn't Liddy, but it was some other notoriously conservative type. I never even knew who he was until after he died.

Perhaps we can find a way to distill the essence of this fabled confessional-causing effect Hobbit says he has on others and just feed the rest to turtles or something.

Would the distillation process involve boiling the fucker alive? Cos I'm right up for that. I'll carry firewood and coal and stuff.
