The Official Author's Hangout Summer Lovin' Contest Support Thread

fuck OFF! normal?

sometimes i just bang out a quickie (yeah yeah, make the obvious joke :D) and put it up over there just for the grin. ;)

The last time I banged out a quickie was like the 60's. :D

No LW's for me this go around. I'm thinking maybe a how to on English hangovers. The story might be crap but the research will be deadly. ;)

No, nor a vault, actually. Just an unfinished half basement, but it has no windows so I could make my decision and no one will know. ;)

We bought the new house in late October and the basement was unfinished.

It's now half finished and the wife is pissed because I haven't worked on it in three months.

But what the hell? My half with the pool table is done, what else do we need?

All this talk of basements reminds me how much I hate our creepy crawl space--and the snakes that live there!

Actually I'd just like to get the boxes out of the middle of the floor. But there's so much crap in them it seems too daunting to go through and decide what to keep and toss. And I know we want to keep a lot but have no place to put it.

Oooof... so now that it's been pointed out to me, I see on Dark's stat sheet that I had WAY more votes swept than anyone else in the contest--and again, somehow I totally missed it. I looked at my personal stat sheet like right at the point before it was swept or something.

Not sure how I feel about that. It's really frustrating. Doesn't seem like those sweeps moved my score a whole lot, positive or negative... I'm starting to think I need to put in a note on everything I post to ask readers to vote only once.

Grr.

It makes a difference. Your fanbase can be your worst enemy when they're constantly trying to "help you out", but the largest part of them will stop playing Robin Hood if you ask them not to.

So...I got about four Lit pages into my planned summer contest story, and realized it was much better suited to being a serial than a single all-encompassing story. I didn't come to that decision lightly, as I had already gone through three distinct drafts of the first few pages and had come up with a lot of new ideas to add into the story once I had the basics laid down. Those revisions and additions did improve the opening a lot, but not enough for me to justify squeezing everything into one short story - at least not one worthy of the "short" part of it.

On the bright side, now I have a new series, of which I can unveil the first episode as soon as I get through another revision. This does send me back to square one on the summer contest, but I have already settled on a new plot for that at least.

I've found a little time to work on mine here and there but i might post it under an alt just to fuck with someone. :D

I just want to thank james r scouries for his foresight in establishing The ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (AI.R.). And I would like to suggest to my fellow AHers that they take the time to visit another support thread brought to you by ScouriesWonderfulWorlds

A.I.R. Themed Contest Support Thread

A thread sponsored by LITEROTICA’S GREATEST AUTHOR (in my opinion anyway – oh gawd I wish I could write like him!)

SCOURIESWORLD Where good writing is the one and only thing that counts.
Signed July 23rd , 2012 at Roadkill Junction, Texas by “the dumbest texan”

thank you for your kind words... however Jacqui O asked me to remind you that you're eineligible for any of A.I.R.'S contests until 2013 at the earliest Sorry!

Okay so I have an idea.

A way to have a little extra fun in the contest and maybe try to eliminate some of the trolling and games that go on here.

First off, I think we can agree that the manyof the authors who enter the contests do not post here.

For the most part those authors seem to be "left alone" a bit more from certain trolls.

It really seems to be the people here who become the target of said trolls main attacks.

So having said that, what if all of us regular posters to these threads agreed to enter all our stories under alts?

Not only enter under alts, but post here in this thread as them. But not at any time give away who we are.

We could have a lot of fun with this, create stupid names, post under a completely different persona and see if it makes any difference in the contest voting or placing.

The disadvantage is that we would all lose the support of our "fan base". In order to keep our new ID's secret we couldn't post on our current pages "look for my story under so and so"

we would all be on a level playing field. Beyond that think of what it would do to you know who.

So anyone game?

Is there a stat sheet showing how many votes were swept from specific stories? I haven't seen one, and I am curious, because I frequently saw a few votes had disappeared from my total, but nothing on the day that should have been the final sweep.

Interesting idea, lc, but to be honest, I don't have the time or energy for it. I don't want to be balancing IDs and remembering where I said what.

I feel much the same way.

On another note: What do you mean I'm ineligible for an airhead award until 2013? How can I be ineligible for a fake award? Oh yeah, you run the fake contests, that's right. You're the only one with a say in who wins. Stupid is as stupid does, right scouries.

Story IDs and forum IDs don't need to be the same animal. If you use other accounts just to post stories, you don't have to remember where you said what.

Now that I'm thinking on it, there would be another "statistical" drawback.

Any fav pages the "alt" got put on wouldn't count towards your main ID.

Then again if I entered in incest odds are half the people that would fav the "new me" would already have "me" on there.

You see how scouries does it, don't you? He says the same ridiculous shit with all of his alts.

A Toesday morning bump for the foot fetishist in the crowd.

True, but lc suggested posting on the forums with those same new IDs. I'm sure people could figure me out if I used another ID; I doubt I could come up with another "persona" for the forums.

Actually I don't, b/c I keep him and any alts I'm aware of on ignore.

I guess we're back to the old tit for tat stuff again. I thought we'd finally solved all that silliness. I guess finding himself at the bottom of the pyramid of dumbinity was too much for him...

I just want to thank james r scouries for his foresight in establishing The ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (AI.R.). It has proven to be a godsend for all the readers and authors of LITEROTICA. And the fact that it’s an independent body just adds more credence to the "Most Comments Received List" and the "Most Votes Received List". And all of us should thank our lucky stars that the wonderful Jacqui O. started the A.I.R. Support Thread and has freely volunteered her services for the betterment of the site. If only others would do as much.

Just one more example why I love
ScouriesWorld.

SCOURIESWORLD: Where good writing is the one and only thing that counts.

Poor scouries, he actually believes that anyone would believe his altered posts. Sorry scouries but everyone knows the truth.

For any newbies, here are the facts about scourries, bullshit.

The ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (AI.R.) is a fake association made up of scouries and only scouries.

The "Most Comments Received List" and the "Most Votes Received List" are two fake lists that scouries makes up to associate his name with the real writers on Lit.

Jacqui O./scouriesworld is scouries.

ScouriesWorld is a fictional place that only exists in scouries head.

SCOURIESWORLD: Where scouries ego is the one and only thing that counts

I'm determined to write something for this contest. A summer theme can't be that difficult, right?
