The Great Breakfast Throw Down

Un-over easy eggs, apple slices and toast made from the homemade oat bread. :D

No pics - the toast wouldn't wait. :D

Stir fried Brussel sprouts and bacon, with what I've decided is an uneasy egg.

I have been a lazy cook but decided to do some shopping yesterday. All fresh and handmade.

Egg scramble with Anaheim peppers, mushrooms, and red onion topped with feta and homemade salsa. I half-assed sauteed the veggies first and then dumped them into the scramble.

That ball of meat is a pork sausage ball stuffed with mozzarella.

looking good, luk :)

scrambled eggs with red pepper flakes, black pepper/salt seasoning, oven-baked crispy bacon strips, fresh-made fluffy, buttery buttermilk biscuits... H had a brilliant idea of adding a chunk of queso blanco to a few of the biscuits (between the two layers and sealed inside), and they worked out so well we'll definitely do more of those. go great with the bacon or the homemade spiced tomato jam

Gracias! Today was just a smoothie.

I've never had/cooked bacon in the oven and it looks wonderful. Props to Harry on the queso biscuits.

before coming to the usa, i'd always grilled my bacon under a gas or electric overhead grill. this is done on a metal rack in a baking sheet... oven at 450, put 'em in on the shelf for as long as it takes. these went in as i made the biscuits and finished as they cooked. some bits got a bit overdone on the edges but nothing bad.

yeah, they're cool. i fancy some spring onion in there, too, for a pop of bright colour and flavourtexture

The grand slam naan. Ha.

Was it worth the pan? Jury is still out. It's good but I have one hell of a sore pollicis. And the pan isn't clean yet.

Yummy. I would think homemade naan would be worth it. I mean I would totally do it if I did doughy things.

Everyone’s look so good. Now, after seeing what everyone is stuffing and where, I want to make scotch eggs.

The naan is excellent. No doubt about it. But Grandma's pan... eep, yeah I have a lot more sessions of scrubbing to get it back to its pristine self.

I haven't done scotch eggs in years. When I made them I enjoyed them, but they are very rich and very filling. Probably be good with naan. :D

Will a bit of water boiled on the bottom help with the pan? That usually works when I make a mess.

I was going to make them not too long ago, but my hard boiled eggs were just awful, so I just mashed them up with a little butter. Also would be great spread in naan.

They sell naan at Adli here, and it’s pretty tasty. I mainly use it for pizzas.

The ship already sailed on boiling water. It got it to the point where I am now. I'm on the tinfoil and baking soda paste method now. It's proven to be the most effective so far.

I've got their mini naans before - very good. It's what got me interested in making them. It's just crazy to me to pay $4.50 for 8 little mini naans. I know that may sound overly... frugal :D, but that's two loaves of their whole grain bread in comparison.

Sometimes, time is money. 🙃 Again, I would probably feel differently if I did the doughy stuff.
